Looking for some mounting options inside/outside for a pair of Maxtrax recovery boards. Please share including any DIY builds.

I’ll say what I’ve been toying with doing but haven’t done (don’t even have the boards yet). Mounting them to the front of my rhino platform like a wind deflector. But, I’ll either need to keep them nearly flat or have a way to adjust the angle for when I put paddleboards on the top.

A lot of spare tire mounted ones which all cover the backup camera. I think the best of those is this one.

Oh if also if you have a TrailRax Pax Rax they make a mounting plate for the Maxtrax. It's different than the regular mounting plate that comes with the TralRax though. You also need to buy a mounting pin set. Of all the options this is probably the most expensive.

Single Side PaxRax: $252
Mounting Plate: $179
Pins: $66

I just bought two Maxtrax MKII boards because of Black Friday deal. Settled on these after watching lots of comparison videos. I like the Rotopax mounting system and still might go that way if I decide to pony up for fuel/water containers. Was hoping to find a cheaper/lighter weight system.

I don't want to block the rear cam. I kinda like this one but seems pretty pricey for what it is and you still need to pop for the mounting pins which are not included. The pro is easy to mount only when you want it. The con it seems easy to steal.

Is there a hard-to-steal solution? I've read a few of the threads (3 or 4) about people stealing headlights, and after that I came to the conclusion that everything light weight is easy enough to steal.

True enough but the ratchet strap is a quick release. The Rotopax mounts are lockable at least.

Unless there's a cable in the strap, a knife is faster than a quick release. Either way, punch a hole in the tire; < 30s to take the mounting system and the recovery boards.

Damnit. I want to take advantage of this... I need to take on a new client for my Jeep.

Yeah a quick slash of a knife on the strap.

The Black Friday deal is available on Maxtrax website and Amazon. I like the ease of returns on Amazon.

Jeeps!
And... are you happy with the quality? Black Friday deal is enticing. Only $111.99. 30% off.
So far so good! Haven’t gone through the winter with them yet so I’m curious to see if they hold up to the road salt. This current deal is much less than what I paid!

I'd just assume anything on the outside of the Jeep is steal-able. I had someone steal my registration sticker off my license plate once. :(

I've actually never needed my Maxtrax. I brought them with me once to some sand dunes and just loaded them into the back of the Jeep. Never needed them on that trip, haven't needed them since.

With a 2 door I think the best option would to buy the mini ones and a carry bag. Then they could probably fit between the rollbar and window OR just throw em in the back.

I'm doing more snow wheeling now. Actually this weekend will be second in a row in the Mt. Rainer foothills. I like the idea of recovery boards vs. a winch for maybe quicker out?

We do have sandy beaches here is Washington and figured I will get some use there possibly. If not me, some other idiot.

Yeah was also looking for interior stowage solutions. Will have a better feel when they are in my hands.

That’s my general thought, though the number of times I’ve left my Jeep unlocked for days on end is higher than I’ll admit.

I’ve never needed them for myself, but a few times it would’ve been lot faster to use them than my winch when helping other people.

My other idea is a custom / DIY shelf between the seats and the rollbar and attaching them on the under side. That also gives my pup a bench seat when I have a passenger and gear.
