Anyone else just get a notification of a just released map update? 149.00 dollars claims not necessary to use other sources. I don’t know about the price. 🙄

Not sure how else to get a map update other than through Jeep, but it's not worth it when you can just use CarPlay.

I haven't updated the map on my 2019. My part of the neighborhood was built in 2022 so whenever i drive home it shows me offroading. Boss.

I got an email today, deleted it before I finished reading it through. Factory nav is shit.

Yea I'm not paying $150 for a map update on a trash nav system. If I can get it free, cool, otherwise, they can keep it.

You'd think they'd fix the volume issues when using the OEM nav system if they wanted people to pay for an update...

Note that map "updates" have historically been at least a year old when released.

Most of us use Android Auto or CarPlay where the maps are updated weekly. When I submit a change to Google Maps it usually shows up within about a week.

Built-in Nav is usually left as a last resort in case you didn't download some section of the planet.

I've used my Nav here, it's ok most of the time. I don't think I'll spend the $$ for an update,.

If you live in a complex area with heavy traffic and changing roads. That map update is invaluable. I have a 15 month old 2024 Rubicon X 4Xe and the larger and highly colored screen makes it invaluable. People with the older Jeeps will use their itty bitty tiny little screen to makes excuses to use a Android or iPhone and claim it is better. Until you get into an accident and they find out you were using your phone or handheld device. Of course their are those out there that squeeze a nickel until it bleeds. The cost is negligible.

Maybe you're confused and seem to think that we're using maps directly on our phones?

Wow...you're a pretentious one aren't you?

I guess you just "forgot" that Android Auto and Carplay are a thing huh? Oh my. If you can't see a 8 inch screen you can't see the 12 inch either. Since they are functionally the same height. I've driven both (since I ordered two different 2024 Wranglers) and the 12 inch display is a gimmick.

If it was up to me Wranglers wouldn't have a screen in the dash at all either.

I've used my factory map and so far no problems. Seems to work fine. Maybe a lot has to do with location. Actually I run with the off road pages on for the instruments and I know where I'm at and where I'm going.

That's what it seems like. They've both been out around a decade, but people don't seem to realize they exist?

This. My old Garmin was 4 inches back in the day and that was fine. MapQuest directions work too!

The only people that care about factory nav is old people, and that's because they are scared to use there phone and afraid of using data. They act like data is this sacred thing they can't use, lol. Anyway they are the only ones that care about navigation anymore. GM won't let you have Apple CarPlay in the Sierra and Silverado EV, but for good reason. They want you to use google maps, because it's built into the vehicle and it calculates range, finds charging stations, and updates based off of driving habits and if you are towing anything.
