Hi,
I just bought a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport. It seems to have the oldest version of Uconnect. Is there anyway to manually update the software so that I can use Apple Carplay as well as SiriusXM.

The radio does have Bluetooth and a touchscreen which is fine so I can use apps on my phone. But would love to have the updated Uconnect.
Thanks

Which radio? If the 5 inch, there is nothing you can do to add CarPlay and I am not aware of any updates. For SiriusXM, you might be able to add the required antenna, but I don't recall if the radio has a SiriusXM tuner built in.

If you have the 7" or 8" radio, they should both have wired CarPlay and Android Auto. There are no publicly available updates for the 7" radio. For the 8", you can search these forums for the updates.

It's the 5 inch radio so looks like I'll need to just upgrade to the 7". Thanks very much for the reply!

If you're going through the effort to upgrade, why not just go to the 8.4"?

You may be able to add carplay with one of those usb dongles that use your Bluetooth and phone like the AAWireless unit.

Nope. The radio must support wired CarPlay or Android Auto for those to work.

Note that there are also 3rd party head units out there. I don't have any personal experience with those, but you can search here for what others have learned and shared.
Thanks! I think that's what I'm going to end up doing eventually. There appear to be a lot of compatible aftermarket ones.

I haven't used Crutchfield in a few decades, but that might a good start. They make complete packages to simplify it all.
