So, I got everything wired up to my factory switches, but the one piece I can't seem to find information on is tapping into Morimoto side markers, as opposed to factory side markers, in order to run the backlight. I tapped into the red wire, and it worked for a split second until both the side marker and LP6 backlight lost power. Luckily, removing the tap allowed for the side marker to work again.... Am I overthinking it and just need to tap into the black wire? I HATE electrical and this was my first attempt at wiring something up. The factor side marker has a white wire and black wire, and the instructions state to use the factory white wire. I figured since I had one black, and one red, I was should to go to red.

How are the Morimoto's wired in? Are they using a wire tap or are they plugged into the OEM wiring? Like you, I would expect the red wire to be what you need but without seeing it, it's gonna be hard to figure out.
