The shop that put the lift on my Jeep last week did not put the lug nut key back inside and now can't located it. I noticed as soon as I got home it wasn't there but then they were closed anon anon. Anyone know if the dealerships have a "master" or how to get them off if I need to replace the set of lock lugs?

Thanks.

You can pound a socket on them to get them off. Might ruin the socket doing so, but you can then replace with a regular lug nut.

You can get a new key from McGuard like above and also the Dealer will have a master set at the shop if you just want to swap it to regular lugs.

There are many ways to remove a locking lug nut. They are almost not worth having.

Indeed.. after spending money getting a second key to modify it to make it fit in my new wheels.. I quickly got annoyed by the whole idea and decided to get rid of the locking nuts

Ironically, one company that manufatures and sells locking lug nuts, also manufactures locking lug nut removal tool for when you lose your key. All of the guys that do their best work at mid-night have the complete set.

They called and said they found it. I’m going to remove the locking nuts and put normal ones on.

Suggestion to those that have locking lug nuts… It’s not hard to imagine a scenario where you are on a trail with a flat that can’t be repaired and you bust out your tire change kit only to find your key is missing because the tire shop forgot to put it back, or you accidentally drop it and it falls between some rocks out of reach or rolls down the hill and out of sight in the dark. Now what?

I suggest you spend a few bucks now for a second key and keep it in the Jeep separate from the other.

I just watched the same video three days ago. Very surprising how simple vice grips can remove the locking lug nut in two seconds. Probably takes longer to make proper orientation if you used the key.

One of the first things I did after taking delivery was to remove those wheel locks.
They cause more trouble than they are worth.
