Hell, my whole screen went black in reverse a few nights ago. It popped up the warning to look for obstacles, but the camera was black as night. I actually checked the camera itself to see if a coworker put black tape on it or something as a joke, but nope. It was weird.

Then, over the weekend, I lost the guidelines like others. They came back that day after I parked the Jeep for a couple hours. I have no explanation. Just a software glitch I guess. Friggin' computers.

Luckily, I haven't had the black screen since that post I put up. I've had the reverse lines disappear a few more times, but it's very random.

I really just chalk it up to a computer glitch.

I see that this post is from last year so I'm adding mine to keep the snow ball going. This seems to be a common problem. My jeep is a 2018 JL Rubi. I just got it new a month ago. I lost the guidelines today. I went to setting to check the disable/enable option and it was selected to be on. I then tried to Reset everything to Factory Setting and that didn't. I'll try KB9's recommendation to pullout the 20a fuse and put it back in and hopefully this works for me too.

As stated above - lost my screen on 3/24 & my lines a couple days later. Since than its worked fine. Stopped in to the dealer & will have them look at it when I go in for an oil change. Good luck.

Lost my backup lines unexpectedly this morning. Second startup after, still no lines. Option is correctly toggled in Settings

New 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited with ~350 miles. Up-to-date firmware per Uconnect site.

Hoping this "random" recurring widespread issue gets a fix soon.

Update: 4/06/19

I let the Jeep sit for a few hours and when I turned it on again the backup guide lines were back. Sounds like everyone is onto something. Hopefully Jeep rolls out a fix at some point (though it's looking doubtful).

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I had a 2014 Cherokee and had this problem the entire time I owned it (sold it in January when I got my JL).

This is not acceptable for brand new vehicles. I know everyone is saying it's a Jeep but it's not. It's the electronics not working correctly. Mine is randomly doing this also. Will the dealer not fix it if it's new? I haven't had time yet to call about it so hoping someone else has had this problem fixed?

My 2018 JL Rubicon Unlimited has 2,600 miles. I've lost the screen twice and the lines twice also. The last event was last night April 16, 2019 when the lines vanished. After leaving the jeep parked for an hour, the problem fixed itself as it always has. I'm hoping Jeep is aware of this wide spread problem and is working on a fix.

Our JL has done it randomly. If it makes you feel any better our 2013 JK has started a new funny,,,,driver and passenger front doors windows stopped functioning. Turned it off and restarted the Jeep and viola' both windows worked again. "Just a Familyeeee tradition"

Hi everyone,
Please send us a private message if you decide to have your dealers address this concern as we would like to have this documented and looked info further.

I lost my lines today. Went to settings, it was correct. Toggled the lines off, went back to screen, turned off the jeep. Started jeep, no lines, went to settings, Toggled lines on, went back to screen. Turned jeep off, restarted jeep, NO LINES.

Yep they disappeared. I paid $1,595.00 for the Infotainment Option group in my new (1425 miles) 2018 JL 2.0 liter Rubicon 2 door. Owned it two months now. There needs to be a fix.

Anyway to force an update?

I have found that if I put the Jeep in reverse prior to the system booting up, I will generally lose the back up lines. After the two opening screens and then the GPS map appears, everything tends to be OK. I did have a new back-up camera installed as I was getting the radio cutting in and out.

Brent, I will give that a try. This thing is a computer, so maybe I am breaking the boot up sequence by accident.
