You can rotate the chrome cross brace like on the image also. That bought me some room on my other vehicle.

Im thinking about getting the aluminum one from harbor freight. anyone use one of these with a 37" tire? I'm curious how much room is taken up by the spare.
thanks.

Hey guys, I hate to be the guy who revives an old thread, but I just got a hitch carrier from HF (the straight 'deluxe') one and noticed that it partially blocks my rear plate...and I've noticed that several of you posted pics with what seems like partially obscured plates as well.

Has anyone had any issues with law enforcement? I know that technically they can't even be slightly obscured, but is it something that actually gets enforced to the point where I should consider moving the plate or something?

I had friend who would ziptie the plate to the rack when he was travelling on longer trips. Shorter trips in state he didn't move it.

That was my initial thought, but then I realized that I won't have it illuminated at night, which might be an even bigger issue.
