I looked on the wiring diagram, and I think this is it. Before I spend time wiring to this stud, can anyone verify that it in fact a grounding point. It sure looks like one. See picture. This is near the firewall driver side. The tube in the way is the washer tube. TIA

@ScotM

I have used a similar bolt on my Tj & a bolt on the opposite side in my JL. I would certainly use that bolt for a ground. Scrape any paint off between the nut and the base. You could also double check it with a multimeter if you have one.

Get a test light and connect it to a known power source and make contact at the prospective grounding point and see if the test light will illuminate solid and not flicker. If there is any flicker it is a poor grounding point.

If you cannot find a good grounding source near that area, the brake master cylinder mounting bolt is a grounding point.

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t think to do that😜. I actually have one I use for testing my fuses, so I can make sure I sand it down snd have ground before I attach any wires. Appreciate the insight!
Ground worked out great, was installing some side marker lights, did not want to t-tap into the wiring harness as specified in the install instructions.

They work as DRLs, in the day in conjunction with my turn signals, blinkers when turning, and running / parking lights when the lights are on. They were about $100, so pretty fun little project. Thanks for your support😊😊👍

How was the install, fairly easy?

Yes, I had to run power to the battery, but I didn’t want it energized all the time, so I tapped into the heated seat fuse. Ran the wires with the main wiring harness, so the are hidden, used the local ground on each side of the Jeep, and used a 2:1 insulated butt joint to tap into the turn signal wiring harness. I was also installing AAL fender liners, and the bushwhacker fenders and lights at the same time. Had to dremel the fenders slightly for the side markers to fit seamlessly against the Jeep body. All in all a good project.

note, if you have stock wiring harness you can buy JP-TSH1 wiring harness in Amazon, and it will be really easy. I didn’t see that until today
