I haven't been thrilled with Discount Tire over the years. My number one complaint is they automatically add the extended warranty. How about asking?
@Discount Tire, Does the extended warranty cover the sidewalls for those of us that go off-road?
To not throw the baby out with the bath water, the serivce work that is done is fast and efficient.

My local discount tire is pretty stand up for being a chain like they are. I have migrated to taking all of my cars there for over a decade now. Never had problems with any of their work. My buddy on the other had when we as with the Air Force out in Cheyanne the Discount Tire snapped his lugs more than once.

I had two tires blow out due to sidewall damage off road. Discount replaced both with no problem. I generally purchase their extended warranty as soon as I get a car because it isn't terribly expensive and I have had them replace tires a few times. I think the warranty had definitely paid for itself for me. Of course, ymmv. Also, since they are nationwide, pretty much wherever you are the warranty will be good. Denver, Phoenix, Winnemucca, Chicago. I have had Discount repair/replace tires in all of these places, no charge.

don’t you know tell them you went off-road. That’s specifically excluded actually. now whether the manager at your local one is cool about it is another story.

I actually had to add the warranty when buying it off their website

Looks like you have plenty of tread remaining. It the tire requires excessive weights, rotate the wheel in the tire 180 degrees and road force balance the tire/wheel assembly.
Bingo…this! I always have mine Road Force Balanced. Discount Tire has been my go to tire store, for over 40 years. I have always had great service from them.

Many people throw out the word road force balance. If the machine does not have a heavy steel wheel to push against the tire while it is spinning then it is not road force balancing. Discount tire does not do road force balance. They do dynamic balancing or spin balance.

Road force balance cost easily at least $15 per tire to balance. It has a laser that picks out and maps the high spots of the tire it can also tell you if the tire is other than round.

One company has the “road force” name to their product. You can see the steel drum that applies the “road force“ to the tire. Check discount tire, their machines are not road force and will not have the steel drum.

I've been using them for over 20 years with more wheel/tire purchases than I'd ever admit. Never once have I gone in there and been sold something. We're talking about wheels and tires. You should have an idea what you're looking at and looking for. These kids might be working on commission which would automatically put any customer with the slightest issue into a sales pitch.

Discount Tire fan for life here.
I had the tires replaced on the wife's Audi, also purchased the per tire warranty.
Months later the wife manages to break one of the sidewalls on a curb.
Called Discount tire, explained the sidewall tire damage to the desk kid, he said you have the warranty and it's covered.
We took the car in and they replaced all 4 tires no charge because the Audi Quattro drive train requires all tires be replaced at the same time.
I'm not sure exactly how long it was but at least close to a year or less.

Was at America's Tire (west coast branch of discount tire) and they had at least 5 of that exact machine...not sure why you think they don't have them?

While I would not say they need to be replaced right now, I also would not say they have plenty of tread left either. Discount Tire (like every other tire store around) is conservative and plays it safe.

The red circle below shows the amount of usable tread remaining (e.g. before the wear indicator is hit) and that is not the same amount as shown in the green circle (e.g. to the bottom of the entire tread).

Unless this is a bad angle, the tires also appear to be wearing much heavier in the middle of the tread (blue circle) versus to the left and right of the center (yellow circles).

I used to use a local tire shop, but based on our travels to different locations both in the state and out of the state I chose Discount Tire for my first replacement set. They have been great and will use them going forward for all vehicles. The only time they recommended anything was related to my wife‘s Ford Mustang factory lug nuts that commonly swell and are hard to remove. I have them replaced and the aftermarket version have a slightly smaller diameter on the land.

Our discount tire sucks.

They wouldn’t sell me the tires I wanted because “they don’t fit your vehicle“ I ended up having to order them from discount tire direct. Stupid move on their part. They had them in stock locally and I could have picked them up but instead they had to ship them to me at the same exact price. I’m sure freight on 5 35” tires was cheap.

I had another shop mount and balance them but ended up picking a nail shortly after. The shop that did the work was shut down with the woo flu so reluctantly I went to discount tire for the repair. 3 trips later they were able to get me in. No problem on this as I understand they are understaffed and busy. I asked they put the air pressure back as I run it at 28lbs. Guy at the counter said no problem. When they finish a kid pulls it around and as he’s giving me the key I asked about the tire pressure. He said yes sir, according to the ticket they have 42lbs in all tires. I told him about my request and he said yeah I see it on the notes but apparently the guy that worked on it didn’t. He said he would take it around to the pressure station and adjust it for me. While we were doing that some guy comes walking up and asked what we were doing and when I told him he started running his mouth. He said the tires had to be at 42lbs per the specs. I politely thanked him for the information but told him in my situation it wasn’t appropriate. He stormed off mad and as we kept on with what we were doing he came back a few minutes later. This time he was quoting GVW specs from the Goodyear handbook I guess and informed me that by lowering the pressure my tire warranty was voided. At that point he pissed me off and I asked him if he was the one that worked on the Jeep. Of course he was and said he purposely ignored the notes of my request. I asked him if his tech manual taught him anything about those little colored dots on the tires and if he happened to notice they were all lined up on the valve stem with the exception of the one he patched. I then asked him if he wondered why it took over double the weight to balance the tire than was on it when I came in. He didn’t answer any of the questions and stormed off saying you have no warranty. I asked the kid adjusting my air if that guy was his boss or a manager. He told me he was just a worker and then asked me what the dots meant. I explained it to him as he finished up and told him to keep the 20 bucks I originally gave him to give the tech that worked on it and rolled out. I probably should have gone and talked to the manager but screw it. I will take it to the other shop this week to be broken down and re balanced.

Sorry for the side note but the Audi Quattro is actually a max of 4/32s difference on the tires. Ideally they are all the same but they can differ a bit. 2012 Audi A7 owner here.
