I hit my smittybilt (frame mounted) left side hard and got the same damage. So it isnt only LOD. Metal
You have the Smittybilt SRC side armor steps? How do they hold up otherwise? Or have you swapped to something else?

This has been reported on this forum before. People who wheel their jeeps on moderate rocks will have these sliders contact the body.

But i do want to say one thing. Fuck hiding the pinch seam. We want sliders that work offroad. Specially if they cost close to $1000.
Exactly they could make it one inch away and would still look good

Theyre pretty good and hold up very well. Finish is really good quality too. Id recommend them, but if you do hit them really hard they can bend. They stick out a lot and protect the underside quite well. This is a good and a bad thing. Theyre easier to hit than others. So I will eventually replace them. I need a step, so LoD destroyer are my first choice. I havent bought them yet because they seem overpriced, and the fact that they can bend and hit the body too just doesnt seem worth it.

I have a 2 door and options are very limited. I like the LoD signature. But only available for 4 door.

I debated starting a new thread and thought why not continue this!

Is the "fix" to make sure there is an inch between body and slider? Is there anything else to beef them up, weld or elmer's glue extra metal somewhere?

Is it even worth it? I play in the rocks, like the look and obviously want 0 damage from them

I know a guy that may be willing to try and fix these up, any thoughts?

You know @lodoffroad made No attempt to help me out and then 4 months later they offer me 15% discount on a new pair of different ones. After $2500 lost on this ordeal ( new sliders (775and damage repair 1700) I come to find out they updated the destroyer sliders likely after these complaints. Not sure if it was to address that issue.
Heck if they would have even offered half off I’d have prolly went back to them for a second set. Very misleading saying they are for heavy offroad. Mine are less than a half inch away on front of both sides and will cause major damage when flexed (Atleast mine did).
No more lod ever again as good as some of their product are.
They had the nerve to say “my Jeep will get damaged anyways” as a response on this forum in my pm inbox.
be careful
But if was you I may go for the signature sliders if I did it all over again. I wish I was on good terms with them but I’m not sending anymore money their way… No thanks … left me hanging 4 months to later say “discount that we already give sometimes”

The reality is any slider will flex, as will the surface it is mounted to. More gap is not necessarily better. Most won’t have the stomach for what I did (lots of drilling on that brand new Jeep body) but I run Ace sliders with Ace rocker protectors AND the factory rubicon sliders. Everything is basically 0 clearance, but the load gets spread out along a much larger surface so I can bash rocks with 0 damage. I was actually not impressed with the Ace products at all (terrible welds, shady powder coat, and poorly positioned mounting holes on the rocker protection), but they’ve been pretty indestructible. The 2 bottom photos are pre-lift, but the best close-ups that I have of the rocker protection. If you’re gonna wheel a $50k Jeep, don’t whine when you get a little body damage. I don’t blame LOD for a second, they offered you a discount for a different set of sliders, they didn’t need to offer anything. I don’t really understand what you mean when you say they left you hanging for 4 months, they don’t owe you anything. This activity causes damage, get used to it.

You have body mounted sliders. You might want to rethink posting your "solution" in a thread about frame mounted sliders. A Jeep's frame and body are designed to move relative to each other and if someone tried this with frame mounted sliders it wouldn't be pretty.

Oh, and you get extra points for being so sensitive to people whining about body damage. Nice looking Jeep BTW. /sarcasm/

Uhh, they are frame-mounted sliders. They bolt to the body mounts on the frame. There is still a tiny bit of room for movement, but impacts get spread to the entire rocker panel instead of one spot, and there have been plenty of impacts. Try again, harder this time.

No, they bolt to the body mounts and flex with the body. The LOD Destroyers mount to the frame and completely avoid the body mount. They spread the impact to the frame, assuming there is enough clearance between the slider and the body. Just sayin'

You realize the body mount is just an ear on the frame don’t you? The sliders mount to bottom of the solid ear, the body sits on top of the puck which sits on top of the solid ear. The ears don’t move with the body. Keep trying though.

If you’re gonna wheel a $50k Jeep,
a 50K Jeep? Where do you find that!

I agree with what you say about damage, this has been the hardest decision on my build, my wife is even making fun of my Indecisiveness, BTW your jeep looks great!

The search for the perfect slider continues
