My lockers stay locked at speeds above 15 mph. I lock both, the front and back while drag racing on the sand dunes. 4h, locked I rarely get beat by a non v8 jeep.
If the race is short enough and you don't need to go above 45MPH, how would starting in 3rd low range work?

After 20 MPH in sand, do you need lockers? If the torque is evenly split, it doesn't seem like lockers would provide any advantage and a big disadvantage if you wanted to turn.

In the good old days with hubs, a fast shifting automatic transmission, 2.x low range transfer case, I never lost a drag race on pavement to a stick.

Once I get hubs for the Rubicon, on pavement, should I start in 3rd and manually shift?

We would hit speeds up to or about 60 mph. In 4l, we would run out of gear. Put it in drive, brake on and load the motor and go. I think with both lockers on in 4h, was the trick. Why, because most vehicles don't have lockers and if they do, they usually are not available in 4h as most people do not have the programer to also it.

I don’t recall seeing this in the manual but on my 2021 you can lock the rear in 4hi without a programmer.

Edit: found it

I was addressing that both lockers are on on with the programer in 4h. Usually a manufacturer will not allow the front locker on at higher speeds because of the impact on steering.

@wibornz - Yep understood. I just put that up because the ability to lock the rear in 4hi was news to me until I stumbled across that video. Still don't know if it disengages at some point on its own.

Put the transfer case in 4hi, turn offroad plus on, press and hold traction control button until ESC off shows up on dash, then you can lock the rear only but still be in 4hi. Perfect for mud/sand like conditions. Works everytime, but I have not tried this in a 2018-2020 rubicon that doesn't have offroad plus.

I tried on our 2020 and couldn't get it to work. So it seems that offroad+ button is required
