Interested in hearing how everybody likes the Torq lockers up front. Very familiar with Detroit lockers in circle track racing and was thinking about how that concept would work well up front for off roading but having it disconnected when on road in 2wd. Concept looks the same as a Detroit locker in that any input torque results in a locked diff.

Not true according to their testing. I specifically asked about how there could be noise in 2wd and she said they were surprised that they still heard some clicking in 2wd making slow sharp turns. They are releasing a youtube video soon showing how it does daily driving and exemplifying the clicking.
The clicking sounds occurs because the left and right are disconnected and the ramped teeth in the gears are sliding over each other. Clicking only doesn't occur when left and right axles are spinning at the same speed, so either when traveling in a straight line or when axles are locked (so in 4wd when on throttle).

From the videos I've seen, the clicking seems way quieter than what Detroit lockers have been in my experience.

Only noticed clicking once or twice.

Had a good test in the snow, stuck many times in deep deep snow, but it helped me keep up with the Rubicons, went where they went no problem

The install was a breeze... found some loose steering components and no more death wobble

Suprised no one mentioned ox lockers. I talked to the owner the other day and they are working on them. I had a set my my xj and loved them. And they were even better after I converted from cable to air. I didn't have a air compressor I used a co2 tank as a air source.

how is the torq locker holding up in the front axle? What size tire?

i see the OX locker is available for most sport JL applications. The front has my interest, althought was hoping OX would have a locker for sport JL m220(44) axle to get rid of the LSD that fails over time

Hi guys, just sussing out options for my JLU Sport aswell and stumbled across this thread. Some good info here. Anyone looking for a potential cheap option for diff lock might want to check out LOKKA differential lockers, made in Australia.

Its an auto diff lock system and info with a detailed video of how it works can be found here:

Be careful because the D30 carrier is an odd shape and not strong so not the best for the upgrade. Your drivetrain is only as strong as its weakest link.
It’s actually the d35 that has been notoriously crappy since forever. I’m not sure if the new version is any better. The d30 has always been a pretty stout axles for its size and can handle 35s fine with a truss and chromoly axle shafts.

Off hand, I know the M200/new 35 ring gear is larger. Not sure about the Pinion shaft. I don’t know the spline count of the old 35 but the new one has 29 spline axle shafts. The housing’s axle tubes on the M200 are the same as the JL Rubicon’s M220.

No clue what that gives someone in the strength department but I plan to test it on moderate trails. For that, I’m sure it’s practically bullet proof with smart use of the go pedal on 33-34’s. I might go 35’s if I get some RCV’s up front next year.

I had Front locker installed at 4WP (I have LSD rear) here was the cost. I only had 4K miles any higher and I would have needed to also replace the gears...

Clutches are cheap to replace, however adding lockers to the front you will out perform Rubicons in most senarios except hard core crawling and climbing. ALso you being in Ontario with snow LSD is way better than lockers

First of all, why would you want to keep replacing clutches? 2nd of all I’d love to hear you explain how you expect to outperform someone who is locked front and rear?
