Hey I'm sure this has been asked before but oh well. I currently have a 2.5 lift on my 21 jlu Willy's. Bought the jeep with it already and it's a rough country. Looking to replace the springs with AEV 3inch high capacity springs due to the rear saging. Is this a compatible change and will I need a shorter front shaft?

Is the rear sagging from lots of weight or is something broken? The high capacity lift will be extremely jarring unless your rig is very heavy.

The rear is sagging because of weight. Has a steel bumper with 35 spare. When you say jarring, you mean on road performance will be rougher?

Thats not that much extra weight than is usually designed for the lifts. Could just be the cheap rough country springs and go with a standard spring from AEV rather than the ones designed for roof top tents, 15gal of fuel a full kitchen, widdle wadder, and enough batteries to power a trailer park.

Thanks! If I go up to 3.5 inch springs will I need a smaller diameter front driveshaft?

So you just replaced the rears and went up to 3.5s just to get level?

Yes. I didn’t actually do the work, because my shop charged 1 hour labor to do it. So the fix was recommended by people with more knowledge than me

Yeah see that's why I'm here asking questions.

That's basically no weight. Something is screwed up with your suspension.

It'll beat the crap out of you on and off road. Those springs are intended for rigs that are loaded down with overlanding gear. Consider AEV's 2.5" springs instead.

The amount of suspension droop is what creates the need for an aftermarket front drive shaft, not so much the ride height. If your front shocks have an extended length greater than 27" you need an aftermarket front drive shaft to prevent the joint at the transfer case end from getting too bunched up at full droop.

Is there a reason you're wanting to go to 3.5 inches? That, in my opinion, will look somewhat questionable with 35s.

Building my rig brother. This lift and wheels/tires were on the jeep when I acquired it, so I'm making changes to better suit me and my lifestyle. 3.5 lift will give me freedom to get 37s in the future ect.

Yeah it's rough country. Should be enough right there! Low quality coils = sag with "basically no weight" .... Now that the jeep is mine I hafta get the cheap stuff off it! But that is expensive so I gotta do one thing at a time

I'm just going to say it...friends don't let friends drink and drive or buy rough country.

RC is pure crap. Remove it all and install a quality suspension instead. Do not keep any of the RC stuff. it's all crap.
