Lift Kits

I'd like to have a lift installed in my Jeep JL. My last Jeep was a JK, and I installed new offroad tires and an aftermarket lift kit. I had serious problems with the after market lift kit I bought. 2 questions: (1) Do Jeep owners recommend Mopar lift kit parts? (2) Do you recommend a dealer do the installation?

There are a lot of options and a ton of opinions on this but I think it starts with what you want to accomplish and your use case. Do you just want to put on bigger tires or just some more clearance or a specific look. Do you prioritize on road driving with occasional trail/moderate off-roading or is it more important to have something that can do some extensive rock crawling.

As far as installation it really comes down to your preference. I prefer to do my own work but some don’t enjoy it or don’t have the place, tools (although it doesn’t take much) to do it themselves. If you answer these questions I think you can get a more specific answer to your questions.

TrailRecon did a set of videos a while back comparing some of the bigger players in the market. I'd start by watching those.

The "right" choice depends on your goal.

I personally wouldn't have a dealership install one. Find a local club and ask for recommendations on local shops there.

In our area the shop owners that are serious off roaders, who support the community, and not just parts installers will be at the club meetings and offer a small courtesy discount if you talk to them at a meeting or on a run.

The factory XR “lift” was a serious compromise. I wish I had done better pre-purchase research. The factory lift seems to be only slightly less of a compromise. It doesn’t seem like money well spent unless you know with a certainty you will never want to change anything once it’s installed. If you’re on this forum very long, you’ll see most people who say they’re done with mods, aren’t.

Nope I don’t ignore anyone…what’s the fun in that? I like drama and conflict. Either a glitch or intentional IDK. The mods are ignoring my questions as to why as well. Maybe folks are just tired of my warped sense of humor.

Yea its like he is banned for Terry myself and one other I know of. His profile says no user found and same for any of his posts and threads
