I'll second the M.O.R.E dead pedal. Install, and especially removal for adjusting, is not the easiest. That being said, it is strong and can be adjusted for leg length. I am a big guy and can push on it to adjust my seating position without issue.

Well...
I was used to the dead pedal on my 1990 Toyota 4x4 (5-speed), 1991 MR2, & wife's 2007 Highlander. So, the MORE dead pedal was one of the first things I did. Not easy to install, but not too difficult if you take your time. I have it set in the middle position. Very sturdy, it doesn't appear to bend any when I push on it real good.

For reference, I'm 5' 10" & around 240 lbs, with about a 32" inseam. So, the pedal fits me well, sits where I need it (would hate to have to adjust it, but I would if I needed to), & it is worth every penny to me.

Just in case you end up ordering the one from Quadratec, I placed an order for one the first week of October and I am still waiting for it. So hope you're not in a hurry.
I'm pretty sure it said it was on backorder in August when I ordered mine but it was shipped the next day. I wouldn't have waited that long either.

I have the Red Rock dead pedal. https://www.extremeterrain.com/redr...ad-pedal-assembly-matte-black-j133782-jl.html

Frankly, it's not the best. All those decorative holes severely weaken it. If you press your foot on it (like to lift your butt to grab your wallet), it bends. I ended up getting some angle iron and bolting it to the back to make it stronger. Looks and works fine now.

The other issue with dead pedals is that they are all still really far away. They are beyond the brake pedal. This means that I rarely even rest my foot on there, even when just cruising along. I find myself putting my foot on the door sill far more often.
Excellent point. The distance is something I wonder about also.

Installed mine, it was a huge pain in the ass and I hardly ever use it. Would not recommend.
Which one did you buy and install?

I‘m used to having a dead pedal on all my German cars and the Land Cruisers, too. Should be standard with automatic gearbox in my oppinion.

I wanted the one from Quadratec, but since it is not available I ordered a chep one from Amazon. This is what it looked like after three days on the job:

Another vote for the MORE dead pedal. Like others have said, not a super easy install but not terribly difficult either. Luckily, I got the right position on the first try. :whew: Love it and use it every time I drive.

Do you find they are beneficial?

Which brand and why?

I remember reading one brand was a pain to install. Suggestions?
Yeah get one if your leg position is not perfectly positioned. Every one of our vehicles has a dead pedal and the JL was oddly lacking. A guy on CL buys in bulk - was selling these new. Checked it out and they are very heavy duty steel powder coated black. Fittings stainless with locking nuts fully adjustable for angle position and side to side position.

Wife especially likes the adjustment and comfort this provides her. She was always complaining until this was installed. Now is 100% happy.

Mounts solid to the firewall. Adds extra comfort every drive. Does not flex. Easy 15 min install with the proper tools - but is very tight positioning everything in the footwell. We pre-assembled beforehand - then tested position and adjusted - finally tightened everything fully. Def is beneficial for us.

I just installed the MORE this weekend. I completely ran out of "sun's of bitches" to the point I had to dip into the "fuck this" till. I took the door off, which did help. I have mine set to the furthest but an mow thinking of moving it up a notch. I just need my swear bank to fill up first.

it will be a welcome install for long runs though.

At first, I did not think I needed it but then I saw this good deal from Amazon.

It feels sturdy and it was generally easy to install. I can say that it has made the ride feel better. Granted, I haven't stomped on it like the one a few posts up but I haven't babied it either. It's a thumbs up from me! ?
