Do you find they are beneficial?

Which brand and why?

I remember reading one brand was a pain to install. Suggestions?

I have the Red Rock dead pedal. https://www.extremeterrain.com/redr...ad-pedal-assembly-matte-black-j133782-jl.html

Frankly, it's not the best. All those decorative holes severely weaken it. If you press your foot on it (like to lift your butt to grab your wallet), it bends. I ended up getting some angle iron and bolting it to the back to make it stronger. Looks and works fine now.

The other issue with dead pedals is that they are all still really far away. They are beyond the brake pedal. This means that I rarely even rest my foot on there, even when just cruising along. I find myself putting my foot on the door sill far more often.

I have a Quadratec dead pedal and it works well for me. I'm shorter, so maybe that makes a difference. Install isn't difficult except it gets a little tight working in the corner there. It also goes all the way to the floor so it's solid (it has a hinge so you can remove the mats underneath). It comes as just metal or with a pad that sticks to it and looks similar to the brake and gas pedal texture.

Just in case you end up ordering the one from Quadratec, I placed an order for one the first week of October and I am still waiting for it. So hope you're not in a hurry.
Yep...I had a few things I ordered from them and ended up canceling and purchasing elsewhere because of backorders...this dead pedal being one of them.

I went with this one. Very easy to install. There is a little flex in the bracket (maybe 1/4") because it's bolted directly to the firewall with an existing stud and nut. It's spaced out a little. I may put a small piece of wood or rubber behind it, but it doesn't really bother me. It doesn't feel weak or unstable, more like slightly spring loaded. It fits great, really comfortable, and hinges up to make removal of floor mats for cleaning very simple. Feels natural to have a place for my foot to rest on long drives. And someplace to plant my foot when off-road.

I don't require a dead pedal, didn't install one, and was glad I didn't have to remove what Toledo didn't already fit to the vehicle.

Yes, longer inseam here. Every vehicle I've owned or driven with a dead pedal had it positioned too far forward (toward the driver), which can be distracting during longer drives. Let those who want or need one fund the purchase and installation costs themselves, just as other owners do when attending to their own ergonomic requirements. ?
