Just noticed an issue with my rear driver's side LED tail light. I unlocked my doors with the key as I was walking up and noticed that the outline portion of the LED tail light was completely out on the driver's side. When I press unlock and lock the internal LEDs (brake light and blinker portion) does work. I checked the fuse box to see if anything was blown out, but couldn't find anything. I closed the hood and as soon as I did the light started flickering, almost like it was trying to turn back on. It was faint, but eventually turned completely on. Not sure what this could be - possibly a short somewhere or water leak??

Has anyone else had this issue with their LED tail lights?

Been following this forum closely since April, and nobody else has had a similar issue.

Have you checked the connector right at the tail light. Unplug the connector and then plug it in again. Been raining there so maybe dampness ... iffy connection .... iffy ground..

If it was a fuse issue it would be affecting more then just that one tail light.

Are you referring to the connector on the hardtop or the individual connector for the tail light? Is that behind the plastic trim panel inside the trunk?

In the rear of the JL there is a small port that you open on the rear plastic panel. You unscrew one plastic screw and that releases the tail light for removal. You would release the tail light, slip it out a bit and there you would have access to the connector on the tail light. You would unplug it and then plug it back in again... when you are there do this say 3-4 times as the multiple disconnect and reconnect often clears moisture..

Ah here ya go, just found a video that will show you the tail light removal process.

Careful, go easy on the big white, plastic screw as you can snap/break it..

Ended up taking it to the dealer and they decided to replace the entire lighting assembly. So far so good... seems to be working! Hopefully it stays that way!

Same thing on my 2021 with 34k miles. The left tail light was out. I can wiggle the 2-wire connector on the tail light assembly and it will come back on, but now the tail light is intermittent. The vehicle can be sitting still, not running, and the tail light will turn on for a few seconds, then off for a few seconds and repeat. The side marker on the assembly will not work at all.

I was hesitant to get the LED lighting package when I bought this for fear that if something went wrong I would have to replace a pricey LED module instead of a single bulb, but thought nah, LEDs last a long time. Please tell me I don't have to buy a $350 tail light assembly to fix this.
