Over the last couple days I got a wild idea to strip the paint off my kmc beadlock rings. I am wanting a polished finish ring. After finally getting most of the paint off, I came to find out they were not made using the same manufacturing process. Some are a polished and machined ring, while two are what appear to be cast aluminum. Is there any thoughts on what to do at this point?

I am going to contact KMC, but wondering if this seems genuine T6 as marked. Can it be 6061 T6 and a cast piece? It does have gassing pits I can not polish out.

Is it possible that 6061-T6 piece of aluminum was blasted before coating? Could explain the pitting.
I thought this also, but the pitting is deep in some areas, and also it is uniform even in the holes and recessed areas.

So just an update, I put in claim with KMC, -and ordered two new rings.

I don’t want to completely rule out bead blasting. Is there any tell tell signs to look for to say if it’s blasted or different process of manufacturing?

Ugh. What's next?
I just cleaned them up, gave them all a nice brush finish. I want them to look okay, but at the end of the day they are meant to get beat up. I am more happy they are not cast.

Wish they offered the KMC Tank wheels with a polished ring. I just got a set myself. Tempted to sand off the outer ring before the trial does it for me.

Wish they offered the KMC Tank wheels with a polished ring. I just got a set myself. Tempted to sand off the outer ring before the trial does it for me.
I ended up sanding everything giving it a brushed finish. It looks better than the black did all scratched up.
