I was at the Shaver Jeep in thousand oaks CA, they have order all their allocated, but they said they would order one for me with a $15k above MSRP.. I said call me when your ready to sell one at MSRP.. if you guys hear of a dealer selling at MSRP, let me know and I will place an order. I know we dont know MSRP $ .. I am assuming ~60k, up from my 2018 JLRU ~55k.. (hopefully).. One interesting conversation, was the sales mgr said they are limiting 393 to 10k units...
10k units or 10k units for 2021?

good question, i understood it to be all units, I will call and ask the specifics.. If the sales mgr (Albert) even knows.. he indicated several times that he is not aware of many details, but he was very supportive.. other than the $15k request to place an order :)

LMAO! I cant wait to see the tears when jeep quality steps in on this $65000 plus Jeep Like the quality will get better out of the blue. Then we are really going to hear about the paint, the fires, the steering, the motor problems, the transmission problems, the axle locker problems and the long list of other electrical issues and to think people even consider paying MSRP and over OMG have they learned nothing by reading these forums just my 2 cents. This post confirms I TOLD YOU SO! Lastly talking of quality how about those stainless lugs on steel studs lmao galling anyone!

You sound like a 90-year-old man sitting in his rocking chair whose favorite saying is "back in my day"

I am with you. I truly hope we are both wrong but I am recovering from PTSD being one of the very first 18’s off the line and only took me three years to get the steering issue fixed. I will wait and watch these roll off the line. I will pay attention here to all the new threads that get started and wait to see if this is an option for me. While I would love a Hemi I do not want one bad enough to be a first run guinea pig. Been there done that. As stated above I truly hope these roll off the line flawless.

As someone who has already ordered a 392, I know that they won't be flawless. Not only is it a Jeep, not a Toyota (which means above average defects and such) but these ones already ordered will be first of their breed. Being in the auto industry I know what that means, and I am willing and ready to take the risk. Hopefully I don't regret that. Since the majority of the vehicle is the same, including the basic construction, hardware, and fit and finish, I hope the problems will be limited.

What I'm expecting and ready for are things like bubbling hinges after 6 months, Mopar hinge reinforcement too tight, poor paint quality, matching and coverage (like my wife's 2015), and software glitches.

What I am worried most about are things like long term durability of trans, transfer, R&P having been thoroughly tested with the V8. Guess we will see.

This was my thinking too. The main platform has already been out a while. It's not a new engine either which is nice. I'm willing to take a chance on the rest. I'm guessing the transmission is used in other applications too I just don't know if the tcase is. I don't ever tend to keep vehicles long enough anyways to worry about long term issues out of warranty. I only hope the small dealer I ordered from gets some early so I don't have to wait many months.

My $90K plus Track Hawk did not have any better fit and finish than my wife's regular Grand Cherokee. The 392 will be no different. I don't mind it on my 2021 JLUR, because I did not pay that much for it. However, on the Track Hawk it was unacceptable for the amount I paid for it when you think about all of the other vehicles you can get for that price tag. The other challenge is that the electronics, creature comfort features like the seats, radio, were not much different than the regular GC. Not that anyone is looking for creature comforts in the 392, but heads up dash, better adjustability on seats, nicer materials, should all come at this elevated price point.

By all means, If you have the money, get it! I did not want to wait for one, and am still concerned that the power will be too much for the axles and did not want to dump another 20K into it for Dana 60's. Heck, like many of you, I will have 20k into my JLUR with just the lift, bumpers, skids, and wheels/tires. I can't imagine dumping that 20k plus another 20k for axles into a rig that already costs 20k more to begin with. It was a 40k swing in my books and that helped me with my decision.

The only new development is the Hydro Guide air scoop.

Otherwise it’s a parts-bin build
-the hood shell, frame reinforcements, and seats are from the Mojave.
-The engine, transmission, paddle shifters, exhaust are from the SRT Grand Cherokee
-The lift is the well known Mopar lift.

I also think the gears and transfer cases on 37’s are not in any more danger than a 3.6L Rubi on 37’s. Not only is the low-range reduction lessened to offset additional engine torque, but I recall reading that Jeep limits the torque output from the engine in low range.
On top of that, they’ve stated the 392 has been tested extensively on all the major trails.

Yep just like they put hundreds of thousands of miles before launching the JL. How’d that work out on the steering. Just saying no one knows anything until they roll off the line and normal folks start using them. I do love your power of positive thinking though, strong.

We have been testing the stock R/Ps and the trans for 3 years now and no issues with less restricted tunes, we are right at about 100 JL/JT swaps at this point and most kept the 44s and 4.10s or got a regear. We use the stock Rubi transfer cases so the case and front CVs will be up in the air as far as that goes and only way to know is to test. We put the 8HP75 behind the Hellcats, Demons, and built 448s in addition to the stock 392 and no issue.

The 392’s Transmission will not be an issue, it’s a genuine ZF-built unit rated for 553 lb-ft torque
