Most trailer axles are 3,500 lb. capacity. So you then subtract the weight of the trailer itself and it's likely that the load inside the trailer is less than 2,000 lbs. So, a very very small load and look at that thing squat! This is why Wranglers have low tow ratings...a convertible with high COG and flexy springs, plus the hitch only bolted to a crossmember rather than down two frame rails.

I'm not even sure why they are doing this testing. A Toyota Corolla could handle that just fine.

The trailer can handle 1,800lbs, sure, but the trailer empty is already at 900. That's about half the towing capacity of the current JK. The shape and size of the JL just isn't going to make it an effective towing vehicle, regardless of the new powertrain.

When you compare these to the new JT its such a huge difference. If towing is something you want the JT is looking like the better rig.

There's too much tongue weight on the JL hitch. That would make for squirrelly handling at highway speed.
Maybe this is an "Off Label" ( unsanctioned) use of the Test Mule ? Test driver's use ?

It was likely a sanctioned internal test as they were testing the JT at the same time, with the JT getting the dual-axle trailer treatment and other setups.

As they are in a big parking lot, it could be prepping setups in extreme situations for feedback before actual testing. In addition to tongue weight added rear payload could account for that squat too.

However, replicating more weight by imbalancing the load still doesn't replicate things like inertia, etc so definitely artificial... which matches the artificial test 'road'.
