Does anyone have a decently comprehensive list of the nut and bolt sizes used on the JL? Not the actual threads, just the wrench sizes used.

I am building an emergency tool kit, but since I haven't had to do any work on my JL yet, I have no idea what sizes I need to include. I'm guessing my kit for my TJ will need to be amended.

I'm assuming it's 100% metric. Is it the same as most modern cars where it is dominated by 10mm and 13mm? Clearly there are several torx sizes, but after that, I would just be guessing, as different brands seem to vary, and I haven't owned or done much work on an FCA vehicle.

Thanks in advance.

Suspension and steering is 15, 18, 21, 22 (lugs) and 24mm. 8, 10, and 13 too. I’d have to go look in my JL box but that’s the most common parts

Following...

I can only add that the oil drain pan bolt needs a 1/2" socket and the oil filter cartridge cover uses a 24mm socket.

Actually also I can't speak to all aftermarket front driveshafts but if you install the MetalCloak unit the bolts at the t-case flange need 8mm 12pt and they're a bitch.

I'd have a plan for these. My preferred method is a flex head ratcheting wrench and 8mm "socket wrench" adapter

You can still get the "sockets" that fit into a box wrench from OEM tools

Eric--clearly, this isn't your first "walk around the park." That said, allow me to suggest that if you go the ratchet route that you include an "extender" or two so you can torque bolts at a distance from where they're secured, where they may be more wiggle room. :)

Deep sockets, as well.

Here's a little spreadsheet i started. Might be something to build from. I believe it's accurate...
I'm glad to know it's not just me. I did something very similar, and I also keep them written down on a notebook I keep in the toolbox. Bumper bolts, lugs, spare tire carrier, torx sizes, etc.

I'm of The Paper Age.

Just ask @cosine he knows!

Oil filter cover is 15/16", 24mm has slop :(
Luckily it's only torqued to 18 ft lbs so unless it's been over-tightened a sloppy 24mm shouldn't really do any harm :)

This is great information. Thank you for posting, but for the torque values can you tell me the number after the "+" sign mean?
