I snapped off the castle nut on the bottom of my drivers side ball joint. There is actually a little bolt still showing. I was wondering how hard or easy it is to replace this bolt. Something I can do in the field with just a jack and removing the tire? Is the bolt threaded through the aluminum piece just above the castle nut at the bottom? Just looking for some advise on how it all goes together and how easy it would be to replace that bolt. Thanks for your help and info!

Unfortunately you have to replace the entire ball joint, which requires removing the tire/wheel, hub/knuckle, and axle shaft. You could do it in the field if you had to. Aside from a jack and hand tools the only special tool you'll need is a Ball Joint Press.
