im curious of the leasing numbers anyone is getting for jlu rubicon ? i read through seeing sahara and sport models but not rubicon unless i overread it. i plan to put money down on rubicon but also i plan to buy out the lease afterwards. any advice on that as well ?
Rubi’s numbers were posted earlier but......nobody is really 100% sure on MF #’s currently.

FYI: Here is a recent quote posted on Edmunds Forum by one of their Lease Moderators:

2018 JLUR on 36/10k
MF: .00190 - .00230
RV: 70% (69% for 12K)

Rubicon residuals are right in between Sport and Sahara.

As far as buying it out, unfortunately with Wranglers it is always more expensive to do that than to finance with a loan.

But if you are committed to doing it pay close attention to the money factor. At the end of the day it is basically a loan with interest. The less interest you pay the better if you are going to buy it out at the end. You need to get a money factor below .0020 (good for a Wrangler at least. Still pretty crappy).

Here are the residuals for the Rubicon:

Could someone check if the lease numbers have been released since its January?

You can use this info and a lease/loan calculator and run through some scenarios.

If you have low debt and you can afford the payment but you are young without credit history than maybe it makes sense to lease a nice car, establish a credit history, then in a few years you can turn in your lease and get your next vehicle at a better rate. A payment in the $400s is not bad for a Sahara.

This is why every situation is different and everyone needs to make their own decision.
Thank you, this is my exact plan! Using this lease as a build for my credit and if I'm still in love with jeep by the end I'll just finance a newer model with better rates. My only push and pull now is my dealer telling me that I am somehow getting one percent below invoice because they had to eat up some of the MSRP because of my credit worthiness but he has not yet proven that. That statement was made of course after I challenged him to renegotiate my deal based on the 3% below invoice deal I heard about in New Jersey. The fact that my jeep is in D1 status I am reluctant to walk away from this order to jump ship with New Jersey because although it is 3% below invoice I am unable to get any numbers talk at all because he is pretty much saying we can't talk numbers until the jeep arrives which leaves me not knowing anything.

I think he is saying he can't give you lease rates as they are based on the month your jeep is delivered. A dealer can simulate a payment for this month but it literally can and often does change around the 1st of each month.

I don't know about that deal. I just leased a JLU Sport S last night, pretty loaded, and the payments came out to $380 a month.

MSRP 41,130
Sale Price 39,569
39mo/12k
Zero down. Rolled taxes into payments.
Bayside Jeep (Queens, NY)
Wow I was considering bayside weeks ago before they even had a jl in, ended up ordering in white plains and now feeling like I'm gonna cancel after all the recent info

This is why ordering sucks for leasing.

But since I want a manual and I am picky about options I will have to deal with it. A dealer should at least give you an estimate based on the current program. But they can't lock in a price on a lease until the vehicle ships.

You're not married to the order you placed and don't feel bad, they'll move the car to someone else. Shop around, if you find the JL you want (trim, packages) and the numbers work for you, take the deal and cancel the order (and get back any $$ u put down as a deposit).

Lease program on Wrangler (historically) hasn't changed that much month to month like other models. The wrangler uses the Standard MF for Chrysler Capital (.00190 - .00230 depending on credit tier), and the Residual values for the wrangler rarely change month to month. So you can be fairly confident that what they can quote you now will be pretty close to what they will be in a month or so, even beyond.

Where they do change month to month is on other models such as the Grand Cherokee, etc. On those leases the Money Factor is actually subsidized by Chrysler behind the scenes so the program numbers that you see, for instance when you see a MF of .0004, was internally subsidized down from .0019 to help underwrite the lease and help move those vehicles. As well the Residual values on those types of models will tick down 1% every other month or so as that model year gets further matured (and thus closer to the next years model). However, often the MF drops in conjunction so that the effective monthly payments remain near the same month to month. Of course, they also play with the rebates - some months offer $1500 lease chase, while others may offer more or less, so that does help change the actual lease amount you would pay.

Bottom line, the wrangler has never really been under the same type program as above, as evident by the fact that there are never really any rebates that apply to the wrangler (beyond the $500 military). So its lease program (and lack of rebates) is pretty standard month to month as Jeep has never really had pressure to move them - they move themselves!

any way you slice it, if monthly depreciation is $290 and monthly finance charge is $180 - it's ridiculous. This is why leasing $50k Wrangler is a close to $600 a month affair ($0 drive off) instead of low-mid $400s. That'd be alright if the vehicle itself would not contain ridiculous profit margin.

I guess, if Wrangler had a profit margin like a typical mid-size sedan, a $50k MSRP one would have an MSRP of $35-38k. So not only FCA gets its fair share on selling the vehicle itself, it double-down on the back end too.

I want the car, I like the car, but my brain is telling me this deal is for losers
Your paying for Wrangler to own at end of lease it’s not bad at 600. 56k maroon Leeses for 680k

That's a decent price. To tell you if it is a good deal I would need to know the residual and the money factor. Also what are the taxes where you are?

I didn't get the chance to get the mf and residual from the dealer as we just spoke briefly. However, the taxes where I live are 5%.
