Thank you to Oracle. I did not use their product but I feel this is a great thread for tech info. I will just post pics of my install. Thanks to @melendez69 Saved my butt a couple of times. Do not install a ground from the switch to cigarette lighter plug. It seems that’s what blew the fuse on my Jeep because it was working prior to trying to ground it. I hate electrical wiring work but pretty straight forward install with all the info in this thread.

Just finished this install following the instructions from this thread. I used the quadratec tap and the rocker switch and quick disconnects from amazon. By far the most difficult part of the install was prying off the plastic tray on the rear window so that I could run the Oracle wire. You have to go very very slowly to avoid breaking the tabs. Once I got to the interior, I could easily push the wire through the hard top.
Need to throw some cloth tape on the wires to match the factory wire look but super happy with the results.
Thanks to all of the posters prior to this that linked to amazon and provided lots of instructions to make this an easy install.

There is a tremendous amount of great information in hardwiring the Oracle Cargo light into the Jeep. I am going to install one in my Jeep. I may have missed it in all the posts. The Oracle cargo light can be turned on and off at the unit, has anyone directly hardwired to the power source without adding the switch, or is there a reason the switch is required?

The cigarette lighter in the cargo area is always hot. If you want the little lights on the oracle light to turn off, you need to add a switch.

I mounted a lighted pushbutton switch down near the outlet rather than up on the wiper motor cover. I wired it to be illuminated when off, so easy to see in the dark when you actually need to find the light. Once you click the light on, the light in the switch turns off. While it is a power drain on the battery, it's so insignificant the Jeep could sit for months before it caused a problem.

Remember that the power to the rear power socket is "programmable" to be hot all the time (default from factory) or hot only with ignition on. This may impact one's decision to install a separate on/off switch for the auxiliary light.

Programming this function is by swapping fuses between F43 and F45, per the manual:

F43 20 Amp Yellow PWR OUTLET (CARGO) BATT
F45 20 Amp Yellow PWR OUTLET (CARGO) IGN*

* Customer can select to switch the Cargo Power Outlet
from F43 battery fed power to this position F45 which is fed
when the ignition in ON.

Silly question but I am assuming when you cut the lighter plug off, you get a red & black wire that you are then tapping into the plug in the back. Want to be sure what I am doing before cutting into a $100 light. :)

Yes, I cut off the lighter plug. I did use the Quadratec 12 Volt Power adapter, it isn't really necessary, hate taping or cutting factory wires. Just did CoolTech tow harness install, so I'm over that now, I guess.
