I believe they were on when the unit was plugged in. I got into the habit of unplugging when I wasn't driving.
The more I think about it, the switch is a good idea. When you yank your top off, you can use that plug to power a different accessory, maybe a cheap led strip that you could zip tie to a bikini top something like that.

My Quake cargo light will be here Monday so I went ahead and installed my quadratic splitter and my switch. I love where I installed my switch but should have drilled an 1/4” inch to the right but it’ll do.

I like that switch location. Can I ask why you think it should go 1/4'' to the right? Also, what is the diameter of that switch? Is there a lot of space there for the wires? TIA

The weather stripping had to be slightly folded back or I could have cut it as the weather stripping hangover does nothing really in that area. Honestly no one can tell but I’m super OCD and it’s more like an 1/8th”. It’s a great spot. Literally took 15 mins to do with the quadratic plug.
Here is the switch I used https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07W8SXSBW?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Thanks, I really like that spot. I have all the parts on order. I too am going to use the quadratech plug but my switch is a little different and I think it is going to need a little more space behind the switch than yours. Is there a lot of space in that area? Thanks again

I’d imagine what you ordered will fit there was a good amount of space on that corner and in that area. Go pull it off and check it out, pops off easy.

Finished mine this weekend. Took me about 2hrs, most of time was wrestling the tools away from my 2yo. I followed the directions from this thread. The Oracle light is very nice, but there are a few things I would have liked them to do different. The screws seemed to want to cross tread on me a bit, maybe it's bad quality, maybe I'm just crossed? They also seemed a bit on the short side. I would also have liked a small rubber gasket or some type of thin rubber molding to go against the widow. The stock part gets rubbery by the window. I might go back and add it later, but I'll need to source longer screws for sure if I try that. Since I added my own switch to cut power, I wish the switches were latching so that if I used my switch to control the light, I wouldn't also have to use theirs. If you turn power off to the light with is in the "on" position, the light will revert back to "off" when power is reapplied, I would have preferred it to stay on, This a gripe specific to how it would be best for me, not really a complaint. The light it provides is quite nice. I was concerned that when I was grabbing stuff in the back, there would be a bunch of shadows created since the light is behind you, that wasn't the case. It lit up the back and the ground nicely. The light it adds is dramatic as you can see below. I'm happy with outcome and impressed by Oracle's decision to make such niche product. Also thanks to all on this thread for their tips and suggestions.

did you run the wire through the MOLEX plug so if you can still take the top off?
I don't know what a "MOLEX" plug is but I used one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A6LTK44/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . I ran the wires down the inside of the top following the hose and wires to the rear window wiper. It was very easy and can be unplugged to remove the top.. If I ever get my garage cleaned out, so that I can remove the top, I'm going to see if I can rig another light strip to use the same plug and zip tie it or stitch it to the mesh bikini top so that I can still have light if needed. I cannot take any credit for my install since I just followed the others ahead of me. There is another thread for a different light called the Brawlee or something like that that I also read to give me ideas. That light is another option, but I like the design of this one better. I really like how they dedicated a strip of LEDs to shoot back into the bed of the Jeep.

To Oracle:
What is the difference between your light and an eBay special? Not trying to call your company out but would really like to know the difference. I picked one up recently that I’ll be installing but I’d like to know the difference.

First, I like to always tell people that Oracle Lighting has been in business more than 20 years as a market leader in this field. With every purchase, you receive prompt customer service with an included warranty and pro tech support as well as a high-quality product.

When you buy from Oracle Lighting, you are buying from a person who you can go back to for assistance or for questions about new products. We are here to always help and to make the entire purchase experience better from start to finish. If there’s an issue, we strive to take steps to troubleshoot and fix it. That’s customer service you won’t find with fly-by-night vendors who don’t have skin in the game. (Case-in-point, I don’t see eBay companies on here answering questions and working with forum members daily. We are here for customers, and that matters most!)

In terms of quality, we source the best materials that will actually last so you aren’t spending even more money replacing products that used cheaper materials and no expert engineering. We only sell products that we truly believe will WOW with reliability that you simply won’t find with many of the companies knocking-off products on eBay.

Hope that clears it up for you and hope you enjoy. Let us know if we can answer other questions for you!
