So I just upgraded the factory alpine roll bar speakers to the 6.5” JL Audio C2 650x speakers with the Metra pod insert. Got everything hooked up and turned on the radio and they are barely producing any sound at all. Anyone have any idea of what I need to do?

I haven't installed 6.5s in the jl, but you replaced 2 separate speakers that only got limited frequencies sent to them with one speaker. Unless you wired the tweeters to the wires that went to the 3.5" speakers and the woofers to the eyes that went to the 4" speakers, you now have half the power to the soundbar and you may be missing frequencies? I believe the 4" speakers were also 2 ohm and your replacement is 4 ohm. You went from 4 channels at 2 ohms down to 2 channels at 4 ohms which would be 1/4 the total power.

So do I need to connect the tweeter wire and the other together and hook it up to the speakers that way?

No, that won't work. The tweeter has to be wired independently. That's not an option in a regular coaxial speaker. This is why trail seven includes a separate tweeter with the 6.5 for the soundbar. You are then using all 4 channels of the amp.

The metra pods have a spot for a separate tweeter if I remember right. You could return the 6.5" coaxial speakers and buy a component set with separate tweeter. I know it sucks to spend extra money but such is the mod rabbit hole. I don't think the sound should be that terrible with just the 6.5 coaxials, which is how trail seven sells their upgrade for the non-alpine JLs. Maybe the polarity is reversed? Try swapping + and - and see how that sounds?

If you are savvy with a soldering iron and the wires are accessible on the JL speakers you have, you **could** unsolder the wire running to the tweeters and connect that to the harness where the 3.5“ speaker would hook up, leaving the woofer connected to the harness for the larger 4” speaker.
