Has anyone installed the JL Audio sub 10-TW3 into the stock Alpine box using the existing wiring?

I know I've seen photos on here of someone who installed the 10-TW3 in the Alpine enclosure but can't remember where.

Having seen the factory wiring I wouldn't reuse it for powering any kind of upgraded sub. The Alpine sub has 4 x 2Ohm voice coils so there are 4 pairs of wires and they're very thin. The Alpine amp is only rated at 46W per channel so won't provide enough power to get any meaningful movement from the JL.

It is, but it has 4 voice coils at 46w rms each. If you go this route, do your due diligence in sealing that enclosure up, and don't expect a ton of output gain since you'll have to go sealed, that enclosure is too small to go ported and calculating the port would be a nightmare.

If you go new sub I advise running an LC2i pro into an aftermarket amp so that you don't lose bass at higher volumes.

Thanks for advice. I already pulled the stock and added sound insulation and foam and it sounds better but not great! Going with the Stinger Heigh 10 and some new speakers so maybe sub gets pushed to the end.

Honestly heigh10 makes this so much easier. Personally, I went with relocating the subs on my build, and the performance differences between my new subs and stock is night and day. Not terribly expensive either, 2 6.5 inch subs in custom ported enclosures with over 400 watts RMS each to them total cost less than just that JL. That's wood, box designs, subs, amp and wiring lol. I have a build thread here on the forum if it's something you are interested in. If you want real performance, ditching that factory sub location is ideal.
