I taught my wife about the Wave and she got the bird the first time out of the gate. Needless to say she won't be waving to anyone anymore. pretty sad really, she is an awesome woman...
Geeze... What part of the country do you live in?

Sorry, I only wave at Rubicons. Sports aren't worthy

The other person probably has no clue about the wave. Jeep has brought in a lot of new customers and many are probably not well versed in the history of all things Jeep like those here on the forums
seriously? I'm sure there are a bunch of sports "more worthy" than Rubicons.

This is my second Jeep Wrangler. A few years back when I had my 1999 TJ the wave return factor was high, but now in my JLUR it is much lower... I was starting to get a bit disheartened and concidered whether or not to wave anymore. (My fee-weens were starting to get hurt...) :swear: But my Wife convinced me to stop being a little girl and make a decision, "you're either a waver or you're not a waver, make a choice and stick with it!" So I always wave because it makes me feel good knowing that I'm trying to be a nice person. As in everything in life, do what makes YOU feel good!!! :like:
I'm a proud waver! :jk:

I think back in the day people waved because it wasn't often you seen another Jeep. Now you pass a couple every time your driving. My wife's car is not a Jeep and I catch myself wanting to wave in her car.
I also have to stop myself from waving when I’m not in my Jeep. I had a rental truck the other day, a Toyota, and waved and got a funny look back. Then I was like Duh, I’m an idiot/Jeep wave addict. :)

My success rate is pretty high but can’t put a percentage number on it, I will say I wave at every Wrangler I see on the road and if i don’t get a return wave no matter I will continue to wave.

I had a funny experience. Was driving a car load of my friends to the US open cause not only love my Jeep but Mojito is a great color in a sea of cars.

Anyway, we were on the Hutch and a Jeep rides by Going in my direction with a beep and a huge Jeep Wave out the window. The ladies in my Jeep were like “is he mad at you for something”. I had the privilege to let them know they had just experienced their first Jeep Wave. They all laughed and smiled.

So keep on waving!! It means so much

High success in Mass. I would guess 80%. Those that do not wave have probably zoned out thinking about something else and forget. I've done it a few times also and feel bad as I'm looking in my rear view mirror. I've even had non wranglers honk and give big emphatic thumbs up. It for sure gets one in a good mood so don't give up and keep waving. It's better feeling than holding a door open for someone.

Pretty high success rate here, but I only try on 2 lane roads, maybe 4 lane if we are in the inside lanes.

LOL, nice...I love the overly enthusiastic jeep wave! I've gotten a couple arm up out of the window, but no honks...haha.

I just got a Wrangler for the first time and was wondering what the heck that V sign was. Question: is it a "Jeep" wave or "Wrangler" wave? I've been driving the same 2000 Cherokee for almost 20 years and don't remember anybody ever waving at me ever.

To answer your question, be a waver when you want and waveee(?) when you want. I've learned over 20 years of touring America on a motorcycle to not to take it personally as there are many reasons why someone doesn't respond as expected. I've had several biker waves turn into middle fingers when the other rider got close enough to realize I was on something Italian. ;)

I wave at any Wrangler, stock, tricked out, old, new, even YJ’s. Haha. I can say that because my 1st wrangler was a YJ.

Get a good percent here in Tucson. Gals as often as guys. Upstate Arizona in a smaller town, no waves given at all. Weird.
