There are so many Jeeps on the road these days frankly I mostly just wave at the tastefully modded ones. I will wave back though if someone waves at me..modded or not.

Several weeks ago, I ran into an issue with the A/C on my 2022 Wrangler Willys XR. Took it to the dealership, and a leaking A/C condenser was the diagnosis. This was during the UAW strike…..so parts availability was slow.

Just this past Monday….my wife and I dropped off the Wrangler for the warranty work. The work was completed late Wednesday, and since I wasn’t needed for any hauling jobs, I decided I’d simply pickup the Wrangler on Friday by myself.

In any event…..while I had Willys in tow behind my 2022 RAM 5500 Cab & Chassis, I met around 11 fellow Wrangler owners on the road.

I waved at all of them, but yet received ZERO waves back.

Yeppppppp……11 waves thrown, 0 waves received. Is this improper etiquette????

Not really.

When I'm driving the sidecar, waves from fellow riders occur consistently and cheerfully. When it's being trailered to a camp-and-ride rally, though, waves are neither received nor expected. In that scenario, it's just another load of cargo, like your Jeep.

Cell phones and refinement killed the wave back. Jeeps are so much easier to drive now that you can do it with one hand and be looking at your phone, so you don't see the initial wave or any other jeeps for that matter. (Barely notice the cyclist in the bike lane)

I've evolved into a non-waver. I've been a Wrangler owner for over 20 years. It's not the "club" it used to be - too many Wranglers out there. I wouldn't sweat it.

I quit waving in the city, too many jeeps and maybe 1 out of 10 jeeps ever wave back.
On the way to a trail, where there's much fewer vehicles, I'll wave to every jeep, even the gladiators that NEVER wave.

I wave at Wranglers and Gladiators, but not Renegades and others.

I'd say I get a wave back about 75% of the time.

More than to whom do you wave, my question is how far away do you wave? Say you're on a road with two lanes going in both directions and a center turn lane - how many lanes away do you still wave?

I typically wave only if they're one lane over from me - say Im in the left lane and they're in the left going the other way with the center turn lane.

More than one lane over I feel they're too far away to notice/pay attention.
