Ok guys, I know someone has talked about it on the forum but I must have overlooked the post and couldn’t find it. As a soon to be Jeep owner, I have some questions. I come from a biker background, started w/ the sports bikes when I was younger and we only waved to other sport bikes. We waved to cruisers ONLY when they initiated the wave 1st! When I grew up and bought a Harley, same protocol, only wave at the crotch 🚀 rockets when they wave 1st. Waving at any wanna-be biker that was on a scooter was punishment by death if you got caught! ☠ They were not and still aren’t considered “bikers.” So now I’m in the Jeep world so here’s my questions…do we wave at Wranglers only? Is it taboo to wave at the Liberty, Patriot, Cherokee, etc? I know better than to wave to the wanna-be Jeeps, (Toyota FJ & Bronco). So humor me guys for those of you who DO wave, who’s legit and who’s death by firing squad if you wave at them? 😃

Wave only at jeeps with equal trim level, lift. If the lift is higher by more than an inch, overt your eyes with a palms down wave. If your lift/trim level is greater, show your superiority by waving and tossing your spare change. If your lift and tire size is greater than an inch each; show your superiority by articulation flex on their tire.

Wranglers only. I raise the first two fingers in a 'V' from one hand or the other....sometimes just my index finger. I never actually 'wave' at another driver. I get very few acknowledgements from other drivers.

Quickly take your hands from 10 and 2 on the wheel so your left hand is relaxed at noon and can quickly flash a visible "V" for victory sign, while your now free right arm is leaning like Joe Cool on the center console with your hand stuffed down your pants to properly admire the oncoming Jeep. Make deliberate eye contact, purse your lips a little, then after they pass, don't forget to zip your trousers back up and put both hands safely back on the wheel. 😙

I'll wave at any Wrangler (or Gladiator) and quietly cuss out anyone that doesn't wave back, usually with very derogatory politically-incorrect obscenities that would get me perma-banned here. And if they do wave back I'll ask the good Lord to bless that person in their travels. Seems fair enough.

I'll wave at Wranglers and Gladiators on the road, on the trails, if they wave, I'll return it as a friendly hello. I intentionally do not wave at gaudy jacked up tricked out shiny mall crawlers unless they initiate. Most of them tend to be teens with too much access to daddy's credit card and they're usually staring at their phones to notice anything anyways.

I noticed two things about Jeeps, and Jeepers, after moving to Greenville SC from Denver.

1. Everyone has ducks. I mean every single Jeep has an entire dashboard full of ducks. I had none when I moved here, now I've been "ducked" 3-4 times and have started to build up a collection.

2. Almost everyone in a Jeep (Wrangler or Gladiator) waves.

Oh, and the ratio of Jeeps:Broncos is far higher here. Sure there are still Broncos running around but not nearly as many as there were in Denver. Wranglers are quite common.

@BayouGirl in this context, Jeep = Wrangler only, and since it's hard to tell from head on that a Gladiator is not a Wrangler, they get waves too.

Since this is a true "jeep thing" and it's called a "jeep wave", why would anyone in their right mind wave at a non-jeep (taco.bronco)? :)

I wave at every apparent Wrangler, and get a deep sense of community and nirvana when they wave back.

YMMV
