Jeep Started all by itself

Well, Figured it out!! Uconnect was not registered yet under me and somehow it was put under someone elses account. HMMMM! But, i had to go through a transfer of ownership and send proof. They did say someone sent a request to start and unlock doors yesterday at that time though but wouldnt give me names due to privacy. I ordered this jeep directly and picked it up the day it was delivered so if it was put under someone elses name it had to be a misinput of numbers or deliberately. Crazy instance and kinda worrisome.

OMG listen to this. I just got an email from SiriusXM congratulating me on my new Grand Cherokee L, and telling me that my trial subscription has been activated. Included a specific radio ID# and everything.

I’VE NEVER SO MUCH AS TEST-DRIVEN ONE, much less own one.

There’s something wild going on at Jeep regarding their vehicle accounts being tied to the wrong owners. Wow.

I contacted SiriusXM to confirm it was real. It was. They helped me out fine and disentangled the accounts. But WTF is happening at Jeep?

Did you tell them to remote start it just for kicks?

Does the Cherokee's VIN come remotely close to yours? I can't imagine it being off just by one character.

What engine & transmission do you have? When we’re you last in it? Any chance you have ESS & manual and when you got home you stopped in neutral, foot comes off the clutch, ESS kicks on, you pull the emergency brake, gather your stuff get out, go in the house & then ESS times out & Jeep comes back on? Seems like that could happen.

I know that they figured out the problem. On a manual with ESS, if you forget to press the Run/Power button when leaving the Jeep during a stop event it turns back on to remind you to turn it off. Happened a few times waiting for Wifey at a store and getting out to help with packages. Don’t know if the auto works the same but I can’t see why not.

The most likely answer is that a neighbour pressed their fob and your Jeep started.

I know that they figured out the problem. On a manual with ESS, if you forget to press the Run/Power button when leaving the Jeep during a stop event it turns back on to remind you to turn it off. Happened a few times waiting for Wifey at a store and getting out to help with packages. Don’t know if the auto works the same but I can’t see why not.

I tried it and it started up as soon as I opened the door.

Well, when I bought my Rubicon, the dealer registered a Grand Cherokee on my name (VINs were similar). By luck I did catch that it said Grand Cherokee on the registration I received from DMV. What a mess that was. I had to wait 2 more weeks for the Grand Cherokee title to arrive then another 2 weeks for the dealer agent to void the incorrect one and register the correct vehicle.

Point is, the dealers make these types of mistakes from time to time and get the wrong cars, wrong Sirius, wrong title activated.

In my kitchen talking to the wife about the day and I hear my horn beep a couple times on my Wrangler then the ignition starts. I kid you not!! I immedialtely reach for my pocket thinking I may have accidentally pushed something. NOPE< key fob isnt even on me, its on my desk in another room in the house. Weirdest thing ever! I cannot figure it out. No one else was around my carport and the doors were locked. Anyone ever have this happen?

Hey, not sure this is what happened, but I might have been on the other end of a similar situation. I was in a dealer looking at some Jeeps before I ultimately went w/ a used one, and the sales guy was INSANELY pushy. So pushy that he tried to make me feel guilty by linking the VIN to my email and I started getting Jeep Cares stuff.

Anyway, this confused the crap out of me on the MOPAR site when it said I had a second Jeep.... I didn't unlock the poor sap who owns it's doors, but i may have been able to had i been so inclined.

No seriously, she was just as amazed as I and was right next to me. Fob was with the other on the desk. I am completely baffled

no, i figured it out. My vin got registered under someone elses account. Craziest thing. Just shows how careless dealers are.
