Can Tazer add the beep to older models? I'm not a fan of beeping, but for the key fob I think it makes sense.
I'm thinking if ZAutomotive (Joe) could have facilitated this he would have already done it. You could reach out and ask ZAutomotive.

FWIW, my '21 (built 4-21) does have the beep if you remove the fob from the Jeep. If I'm not mistaken, the warning on the dash stays up for a bit as well. From what I'm reading here, my wife's '20 does not? I'll have to test that.

yeah, I had that on my Explorer and was annoying as hell...

have you ever tried to drive off without the fob?
What does it do then???
With the JLU? It just displays the message and keeps on rolling! You can start the Jeep and toss your fob in the garage, then drive hundreds of miles and everything is fine....until you stop the Jeep and try to start it again.

I'm 99% sure mine doesn't have the beep and mine was built in March or April...I forget which month.

I would had preferred a dash seatbelt like chime. I hope it's not a horn honk... :)

If Jeep is listening, I think it would be useful to have a little chirper horn like how many of the imports have...not a full on Jeep horn, just a little "chirp". It would be useful to have a chirp for the key fob missing, locking/unlocking the Jeep, and locking it and leaving a door open.

my 2018 JLU shows fob has left vehicle message in the cluster soon as it is out of the vehicle. and the only way to clear it is hitting the OK button on the steering wheel. I see this message every time i get out to open or close my gate at the house.

I would assume there'd be a firmware update so all JLUs have the same software.

And yeah, I hate that f'in honking--what a dumbass idea.

At least they don't have the stupid look in your backseat for your baby reminder like the new pick ups with ford and chevy have. That drives me nuts. I have NO idea how you can "forget" you have an infant or toddler in the back in their car seat. -_-

My 2021 Sport, build date Oct 2020, doesn't sound the horn when I open the door(s), and/or leave the running vehicle, with the fob on my person. But for a simple message on the center TFT screen, no other warnings or reminders are provided. That's fine by me.

This subject recurringly makes the rounds on the forum. The post content suggests that the beep function is specific to the trim level of the vehicle or the safety package installed thereon, and not necessarily its model year or the production month/year data.

It is indeed a recurring problem. The decision by Chevrolet and Ford (and others?) to add a "Check for your child" function to their vehicles wasn't done on a whim.

Expect additional layers of electronic hand-holding with each passing model year until such time that idiot parents are outlawed. We may need to be patient.

Mine was built late March 2021 JLUR

I did delete the horn honk when locking the Jeep through the main menu soon after I got it, I wonder if that also deleted the honk when you leave the car running and hop out with the keys?

Either way, a simple audible seatbelt charm along with blinking
"key fob has left the building" would have been a better way to avoid this.

I have three other cars all three different car brands and all with key fobs...

I'm going to test them all out today for shits and gigs to see how they all react.

unfortunately it has happened far too many times with deadly outcomes

If it saves one kids life it is worth it.

ok, so the idiot alarm results are it....

My oldest car was the winner

1. 2006 Lexus is250 gives a subtle beep/charm and then a display
"key not detected" with a flashing red triangle warning light.
Only gives audible "ding" one time, but The flashing red triangle in the center of the instrument cluster gives it the win...hard to miss it

2. 2018 Porsche Cayman doesn't do anything at first, it lets you drive about 200 yards before you get the warning chime/ding with a big yellow warning display in the info portion of the instrument cluster which is hard to miss

3. 2021 JLUR has no audible chime/ding it just has a small "key fob not in vehicle" text in center, but no flashing or anything else....easy to miss if you're mind is on other things and not paying close attention

4. 2015 BMW 428i has an instant double warning chime, similar to seat belt as soon as you close the door and then a small message that says "key not detected" which then just quickly disappeared ....besides the initial audible ding ding and quick message it was horrible....literally no warning by the time you leave the driveway. yikes

granted, these were all just quick trips around the block, so maybe they do more after certain distances.

LOL, I don't understand how we can get babying people along when its only making us dumber and dumber kind of wish the car manufactures would go back to only making Manual transmissions with zero driving assistance or parking assistance for that matter. ugh. oh well. will keep allowing technology to make us lazy and sue when it fails because thats the world we live in -_-

yes, it’s amazing how the brain sometimes goes into cruise control. Add to that a severe lack of sleep and things happen that shouldn’t.
I understand lack of sleep having a 8 almost 9 month old. working 10-12 hrs a day then raising a child and still trying to find out how to get the honey to do list a while trying to have a life and see family and friends But there has Never been a chance to forget that my little girl is in the car, truck, of jeep. There is Zero excuses IMO for leaving a child, elderly OR pet in a car. Its that easy. I am far from perfect and accidents do happen but thats one thing that is zero tolerance. Plus the fact that a big percentage of people think that they can rely on technology is sad. It will come back and bite the human population in the ass sooner than later.
