Jeep needs a Beep (idiot alarm)

Ok, so last weekend we loaded up the Sea Doo's and headed out to the River(Colorado River)

Luckily I needed gas and decided to hit up Costco about 15 minutes from the house instead of like an hour away in Palm Springs or worse......becuse when I got back in the Jeep to start it up it wouldn't start, ughhhh

"key not detected" or something like that light pops up on dash......FML

Apparently when I was moving the other car out of the garage to get the SeaDoo's out I hopped back in it to put it back in the garage and ended up leaving the Jeep key fob and keeping the other cars key fob in my pocket.


Luckily my 17 y/o was home and actually answered the phone and brought us the key fob within about 15 minutes....thank god we needed gas, cuz it would have sucked being any further from home and that happening. Can't imagine being stuck out in 110 degree Palm Springs and that happening...

Anyways, I'm surprised there isn't audible idiot alarm that let's you know the key is not in the car, cuz the little message on the dash obviously wasn't enough for my dumbass

You would think there would be a loud annoying beep or some sort of charm like when you don't buckle your seatbelt right away.

hopefully y'all can learn a lesson from my mistake....make sure you have the key fob before you shut off the engine....I'm sure I'm not the only one to ever do this tho

btw, getting like 10 mpg towing a couple Sea Doo's for a 450 mile round trip is kinda expensive especially in Cali
kid you not averaged less than 10mpg eeeesh

Trade in your JLU, for a late in the Model year 2021 JLU or a 2022 JLU and you will have that beep beep warning, you think is important/desired.. The JLU's I mentioned have that beep beep behavior when fob leaves the vehicle.

Tazer JL has a feature to disable that beep beep on the 2022's and late in the Model year, 2021's that have the beep beep. Why does Tazer JL have that feature.... because unlike you, many that have that annoying beep beep warning do not like / do not want it.

The oversized Jeep fob compelled me to purchase a carrier for it. It's thus always on my person. High quality, made to order in the USA.

Don't know why anyone would want to delete that if it did??

yeah, just went and tested it to make sure I wasn't crazy...

It made no audible noise only small message on dash that doesn't even blink.

Wish the Tazer was able to add it with the update, but I think I learned my lesson and now make sure to read the center dash now within the first few minutes.

yeah, I had that on my Explorer and was annoying as hell...

Same. It's on my 2016 Renegade. Chimes repeatedly while "Key fob not detected" flashes on the dash screen if you walk more than a few paces away from the Jeep with the fob.

Can Tazer add the beep to older models? I'm not a fan of beeping, but for the key fob I think it makes sense.

@SoCal I have the opposite problem. I very seldom remove the FOB from its holder in the center console. Last January in Quartzsite, I parked in the Tyson Wells area and went off shopping for 3 or 4 hours, came back to unlock my Jeep and didn't have my FOB. Of course it was right where I left it, in the console. Solved the problem by adding an AirTag to the FOB, now by the time I am 1000 feet away from my FOB, I get notified on my watch "jeep Key left behind"

I’m very annoyed by the honk, honk, honk when leaving the Jeep running to quickly get out, especially when dropping kids off at school. It happens after each door closes, argh (i get out of the Jeep, honk honk honk, let my daughter out, honk honk honk, grab her bag from the front passenger side, honk honk honk).


Did that twice in the car line, now I just leave the driver door slightly ajar and it doesn’t honk. May need to look into a Tazer.
