What mods have you done so far?
Dunno why people want to go through mud. That crap gets caked up easily and wreaks havoc on a vehicle. Our Jeeps are very capable but I try to stay clear of mud.

3” zone lift and the 35” tires. Nothing else.

To be fair, for a lot of us we kind of have no choice. It is either wheel on trails that have muddy areas or don't wheel at all.

Now "mudding" so to say, I am right there with you. However we don't have hardly anything around here that doesn't have at least 1 mud hole that is not optional.

I was also there last weekend and hit the same mud pit you did but can tell you really gave it the beans in the beginning due to how your grille and hood are covered in milky water. I know expensive mistakes make you want to swear away off-roading the mud pit gave me a few issues as well I am diagnosing and replacing Some parts, I’m still finding mud and dirt everywhere its dried like concrete. My biggest fear is flooding the intake or entire engine at that really sorry to hear that’s essentially what happened hope everything goes smooth once it’s back up and running.

Anytime liquid can raise above the axles, it’s a no go for me. Hope you sort out some the issues.

Thank you for the warning. I always avoid mud because i’m lazy and don’t like the epic clean up. I do feel like a party pooper with my friends who just want to send it all the time so thanks for adding some validation to my wanting to avoid it.

I always say “hey you do it if u want, i’ll film it”

i prefer a dusty jeep over a muddy one hahaha

I'm kind of surprised. My Jeep looks like it went a lot deeper and no issues. Mine was a V6. I did have to pressure wash it 3x a week for a month though. Mud wouldn't stop pouring out of every nook and cranny. Since then, I will never go through mud again. It was a PITA even though mine didn't have any issues.

I sincerely feel for you, OP. I just hate when an innocent comment from a stranger gives you just enough confidence to do something you may not have otherwise, and then you just want to kick yourself when it turns out bad.

Mud can be a massive bitch. I went out to AOP back in 2017 and my buddy cancelled day of. I was stuck there, and they had a pretty good mud pit. I was in there being a little dumb, and just a few inches of mud caused small pebbles in that mud to jam themselves everywhere and a couple got in the steering and the brakes and caused grinding noises for what felt like weeks. It was fucking miserable to have to clean it 3 weeks in a row.

I'm sorry you are in this situation. I hope you don't give up on offroading, though!

Everyone has a winch but no one has developed a scoop/plow that sits in front of your grille preventing water intake?

Ooof this is why I avoid mud. Don't be afraid to take it off-road. Just avoid deep mud and water. I never considered "mudding" offroading. It puts too much stress on the vehicle.
This is the most mud I'll do and even then it ruins the brakes and stinks.

Driving a modern vehicle with low voltage is very hard on them. Had you accepted the failed alternator early you could have saved yourself most if not all the other headaches. You probably wouldn't have even needed batteries. Autozone shows an alternator for a 2021 with the 2.0t for $500. Might have still needed a starter, but a pressure washing of the radiator would have solved the overheating.. A good cleaning could likely have saved the starter. I know hindsight doesn't do you much good, but the next wheeler who finds themselves in this situation could save a lot of heartache and cash.

My 2 cents worth, if you have to go fast through anything you should not be doing it at all. Glad you can get it fixed for the low amount of damage you had and this comes from a guy who had to replace an engine due to overheating.
