It's a cost/benefit analysis. But if it works for you... do you. However, I would ask, If it's such a great product why the mandates to force them on lots? They should be flying off the lots and people should be lining up to order them.
You are conflating a lot things that have nothing to do with each other.

I would say they have everything to do with each other. But if it works for you and you're happy... enjoy.

Jeep has a 153 day supply on the lots. Sales slowed last year so it has nothing to do with the 2025 model year. It's only March, a good 6 months before the 2025 will even be a thing.
Jeep and Dodge are hardly leading the march for vehicles on the lot….and two of the most quoted for sitting on lots, Charger and 300, aren’t even in production for 2024…so who would rush out to get those? Anyway….

The diesel was a great Wrangler, why weren't they flying off the lots?

Same with the 392, awesome Wrangler, why aren't they flying off the lots?

Same with the 4xe,' and Ive said many times, it's not for everyone

I also don't support government giving people money to buy EVs

but using what you are saying to claim the 4xe is a bad product is nonsensical.

What did he mean by

Something like over 800 lb of added weight for a whopping 21 miles of all electric range. You can't possibly think that is good can you?
You would have to ask @autotragic, you shouldn't assume.

He could have meant that the added weight wears on the brakes and suspension components, or at least requires heavier duty equipment.

I dunno.

Hahahaha look who's assuming

Pssst regen means your are using the mechanical brakes far less than a regular gas Wrangler.

Suspension and other equipment is beefed up accordingly, kinda like equipment on Rubicon vs a Sport.

I did not say it was a bad vehicle, I said it did not pass the cost-benefit analysis. You seem a little insecure in your choice of vehicles, just enjoy your choice. Who cares what I or anyone else thinks.

It seems you are the one that have a serious problem with what other people are buying.

Well it's the worst of both worlds as far as vehicles go. You have a high maintenance gas engine and the crappiest EV system combined.

Vast majority of people don't drive more than 20 miles or so a day. It is the perfect range for an around the town jeep. If you need to go further then you obviously have the gas engine.

I own a 392XR that I daily drive. I rarely drive more than 20 miles a day. I love my 392, but if Jeep offered a 4XE performance version where the 0 to 60 was similar to my 392, I'd be on it in a heart beat as it would save me a ton on gas but still keep all the acceleration giggles.

Electric is far superior to ICE in practically ever measure of performance except sound and range. However, the range is really not an issue for 99% of people in reality because they rarely ever drive outside of the usable range.

I do agree that I don't like govt mandates but that is another topic. Most people who experience electric usually will prefer electric. ICE feels downright antiquated by comparison.

Hmm, average commute is over 40 miles per day. Where did you get the 20 from? My commute is nearly 90 miles a day. And around 500 miles on it per week. The 4xE makes zero sense in my case and given the range of most EV’s none of them make sense — all EVs seem to make the assumption everyone has a charger at “home” — which also assumes they own their home and have this capability.

Agree totally on incentivizing EVs, had you told ICE makers you get 10K off if you produce a 50mpg engine…we’d all be getting that now.

I'm the wrong person you are asking, for me it's the best Wrangler powertrain, the vast majority of my miles is cheap electric.

You should probably drop the bullshit about 800 lbs, because the 4xe drives and handles better than the 2.0/3.6, the range is adequate for the 4xe, considering the Wrangler is a pig on gas, 20 miles for a PHEV is generally the sweet spot, it's about the same range offered by similar vehicles.

The "worst of both worlds" strangely serves up some serious performance and superior handling.

The 4xe definitely isn't a budget vehicle for sure, but it's well worth the money for people that know what they are buying, a direct substitution for the 3.6 or 2.0 it is not.

Nowhere in this world does adding hundreds of pounds to a vehicle make it handle better. See any race car teams scrambling to add ballast? lol.
