Fold them back against the door, then push them back out until they lock into place. They just might not be fully locked in place.

What happens

Next time you get around say a Jeep dealership, checkout the mirror movement on a couple of JL's or JT's there.

Typical... is with some force, the mirrors will wobble / move / give on that main pillar that supports it. You should feel like it is almost like it is spring loaded and resisting you.

In cold weather especially, that wiggling of the mirror will illicit a plastic on plastic squeak of sorts.

Anyway, as long as you are having to use some force to move the mirror as you moved it in your video, then what you are seeing is typical.

OP needs to compare to mirrors on other JL and JT's to see if his mirror movement is different then others.... then he will know.

Yes.. thats exactly what it feels like when I move it.. like it's spring loaded.. thats the feeling it gives.. a little tension when I push up on it..
They are designed that way; it’s normal. That’s how you fold the mirrors in. You tilt them up, then fold them in.

In fact, I will add for those of you who say your JL mirrors don’t do that - you need to take your Jeep into the shop and have them fixed.

My mirrors fold, but they don’t wobble like that on the video. They are totally tight until I push them in. Then they are tight again in the folded position.

If that’s how the mirrors on all newer JLs are, then that’s yet one more reason to be glad I have a 2018.

Aldo, I was speaking of the 2020+ models. I don’t believe my 2018 Sport was designed that way, but the later models definitely are. They are spring-loaded, and you have to push up, like in the OPā€˜s video, to fold them in.

huh? my mirrors fold and don't do that. No weird tricks to fold them, just push them back...

Maybe there are 2 different designs of mirrors.

idk man this whole thing is so OCD lol. Who the hell notices that if there is not even vibration in the freeway? you guys walk around your jeep touching and fidgeting with stuff? lol.

Just have a beer and fidget with your wife or girlfriend.

Geez. The more I read about all these things on 2020+ JLs, the more I want to keep my 2018.

I want to meet the brilliant minds running ruining Jeep.

Mine work like yours: fold the mirrors in; fold the mirrors out. That’s it.

They work like a charm; no pulling, no yanking, no wobble, and I don’t need a tutorial to show me how to do it.
