For you, Level 1 vs Level 2 comes down to cost, if you are only doing 20 miles a day, why bother with a Level 2 which comes at an added cost, on the odd time you don't have enough charge just run the ⛽.

You already have a perfectly good 120v charger that came with the 4xe.

I would use that first then decide if you would get any meaningful benefit spending money for a Level 2.

We have a '24 4XE JLURX. My experience - $600 for 240v outlet - $500(+/- 10%) for the Level 2 wall mounted charger that plugs into the 240v outlet - $90 for the 25' 240v extension cord. In my view, totally worth it to have the charging window reduced down from 13-14 hrs. w/ the included 110v Level 1 charger to 2-2.5 hrs. with the Level 2 set-up.

I used the included EVSE for about a year before I sprung to get the 220V one installed. That was also in part to take advantage of the tax credit for the installation.

My driving habits changed though, I now pick up my youngest from school so having a two-hour charge suits me better - before I was fine with it charging overnight.
