Welcome aboard! Glad you found our long-running thread over in the Mid-Atlantic section too. Seems there's a few of us on here with KJs and JLs.

What lift did you have on the KJ? My wife bought her '03 new and drove it 15 years, then it was off the road for a bit until our son got his license. We put a Rough Country lift on it and TJ Moabs with 31s. He drove it 3 years and then we passed it over to our daughter when she got her license. The rockers are starting to disappear but otherwise it's still a solid, good running workhorse.

Thanks!
My KJ had a 2.5" OME/Bilstein lift, JBA UCAs, and 1.5" spidertrax spacers. I also put .25" clevis spacers that gave me another .5" of lift. Did everything in my home garage. It was in pretty good state with 150k mi. until the transmission (45rfe) took a crap. To replace or rebuild it on my own was over my head, and the aamco shop quoted me near $5k for the reman, which was out of question for this jeep. I could get the whole kj in much better condition for this price. So I gave it to good people who have a family shop for a nominal price. They will fix it and give to the kid to drive to school and enjoy. I loved that Liberty, and knowing that it will have another life instead of being scrapped makes me feel better.

Howdy from the Idaho/Washington border!

I just came home today with a new 2024 Wrangler Unlimited Sport S 4xE. I didn't want the dang thing. I was happy with my Lifted Tundra and Volvo XC60 R-Design. But, the Volvo had 105k miles and the transmission was acting up, along with a few European car electrical gremlins.

I just stopped by the dealership to check out the Wranglers and couldn't believe the discounts on the 4xE models! Mine was $14k off MSRP. I ended up getting it for a bit cheaper, with more for my Volvo, and the dealer-installed Mopar lift kit.

Now, I did do a ton of research on the 4xE and was well aware of the issues with the first couple of years of production. The system is incredibly complicated with a lot to go bad. I would have preferred to go with just the 2.0 turbo 4.

But, when I saw that the one I was looking at had 3.73 gears and HD Dana 44 axles front and rear, I decided to take a chance on it.

This will be my 5th Jeep, and my second Wrangler.

1st Jeep was a `78 Cherokee Chief with Quadra-Trac that I lifted 4". My ex-wife was scared to ride in it, so it went down the road.

Years later I got a 1987 Cherokee 2dr. Loaned it to a buddy who wrecked it. Then got an `82 Grand Wagoneer to restore and was just too busy to finish it, so sold it.

My latest Jeep was an `87 YJ with mild lift and 33s I bought about 6 years ago. Great little run-around rig, but it was just a bit too rough and punishing for someone nearly 50.

So, here I am with the most comfortable, quiet, and fastest Jeep I've ever owned.

Once the lift is installed in a week or so, then I have some 35s and new rims on the way. Tires are the Goodyear Wrangler Ultra-Terrain ATs. Phenomenol tire that I ran on my 5th gen 4Runner, then currently have on my lifted Tundra. They are incredible on snow and ice and wear like iron.

Plans are just the usual armor and gear needed for backcountry exploring and commuting in the winter.

Man, I love old Jeeps, but the square headlights still make me cringe!

And congrats on the new Jeep from a fellow (very happy) 4xe owner.

I'm currently looking for nearly the same thing. I want side steps that are beefy and attach to the body mounts, cover the pinch welds, and are under $500.

Furiously searching this site and the internet. Getting close.

These Barricade rock sliders attach to the frame, are $280, but don't really obscure the pinch welds or the frame. But they are beefy.

Hello from Beautiful BC! Just picked up my 3rd Wrangler 6 days ago and finally in the colour of my dreams. Blue was never available as an option for my other orders. Pulled the trigger and put in my Willys order in August and here we are! 2 door soft top and regretting the missed opportunity for half doors when I actually saw photos here! Too late - it was built!
So…. Anybody got half doors (with uppers - it rains lots here in Vancouver lol) they aren’t using????? πŸ˜ŽπŸ’™πŸ˜œ

I like those! Trying to clear the rust in these holes and see if I can install the running boards I have first.

I ended up ordering these after I read all of the horror stories of trying to get the frame bolts out. I have a similar set from Tyger on my Tundra, and ran them on my 4Runner, and they held up well to the salt and snow. I don't rock crawl so don't need super beefy rails. I just need to be able to get in and out and cover up the ugly pinch welds and frame.

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I’m excited to be here and join the community! I drive a 2018 Jeep Wrangler in Crystal Granite, and I absolutely love it. Whether it’s hitting the trails or just cruising around town, this Wrangler has been a blast to own. Looking forward to connecting with fellow Jeep enthusiasts, sharing tips, and learning from all the experience here. See you on the trails!
