I've had this Land Rover for 26 years. Longer than my marriage, longer than my kiddo is old. It's outlived three pairs of dogs and taken us on numerous adventures. I was, therefore, a little nervous about introducing it to the new family member. I explained that the new family member is really a distant cousin, that it had the same skin color, and that it needed to feel welcome in our family.

It was awkward at first, but everybody's getting along so far. :)

Hey thanks, @Outlawd! Here's how the conversation went:

Me: Rover, this is your new sibling, the Jeep Thing.

Rover: Where's it from? Does it have 4WD?

Me: It's from America. You know, the country you've been living in for the last 35 years? If you go back to 1948, you have ancestors in common.

Rover: Well, is it made of aluminum?

Me: Aluminum, steel, and magnesium.

Rover: What's magnesium?

Me: Never mind.

Rover: What's with those ugly bumpers?

Me: They're plastic. Better if you run over a person.

Rover: Oh. Does it have 4 forward gears?

Me: Six. But all of them are a higher ratio than your first four.

Rover: It looks familiar. Do I recognize it from somewhere?

Me: Yes, its grandfather completed the Darien Gap with one of your siblings decades ago.

Rover: Do you still love me best?

Me: Yes, I still love you best.

Hello everyone,
My name is Maciej but everyone calls me Magik.
I live in Poland and like most of the forum members I am crazy about Jeep, my daily vehicle is 21 JLUR XR 3.6 with continuously modifications, for typical off-road driving, I have JKR with a 3.8 armored engine. Greetings to all members from this mine of knowledge forum.

Great combo. they will be friends. Plus the Land Rover will probably enjoy the break and cause it to live even longer.

Wow, strange to see this thread bumped 4.5 years after I made it! Yes, I still have both vehicles of course. We love the Jeep and it has taken us on many adventures and has suffered no faults. It's now in my grown kiddo's care, and he put a Gobi rack with Yakima roof tent on it. I replaced it with a 2023 Defender, which we also love.

Here's a pic of the Jeep from this past summer. We were camped on Lake Michigan.
