UPDATE.....the dealer is doing an update next week that will take about 4 hours. I got an email from FCA that had an update version/number. Oddly the dealer had no clue about this. I’ll update once I know the update worked.
Hmmm, no update according to Uconnect's website. Do you have details about the firmware version, etc?

It seems that my CarPlay/UConnect issues resolved after updating my iPhone to iOS 13...for now.

Edit: No it didn’t. UConnect still bonkers.

Friday morning Uconnect held forever (2-3 minutes) before rebooting and hung on a black screen. Tried the three finger salute, shutting g the Jeep, off, waiting, opening/closing doors. Pulled the fuse. Drove to the dealer to show them radio not booting. They pulled the batteries. Still nothing, and new radio finally ordered.

Over 48 hours later the radio showed the shutdown animation as I turned off the Jeep. Shocked, I started the Jeep back up and radio booted up. Since then it’s had audio pops, and four “normal” reboots. Waiting in the new radio to arrive.

I have also been dealing with Uconnect screen issues. I purchased it in April. Worked fine for about a month. The screen either responds very slow or doesn’t respond at all to touch. Another issue is that it will automatically start tapping icons and sometimes even dialing out on its own via Bluetooth contacts or if plugged in with CarPlay. Had a star case and finally the dealer replaced it today. They said it worked fine now. Drove down the street and i can’t press on some of the icons. No response or it touches the screen in a totally different area. I have to bring it back again next week but not sure this problem is going to get resolved. @JeepCares

Update......the update that FCA first sent was corrupt. New radio wasn’t an option as the radio would be delivered with same software package that mine has now. They (FCA) finally reached out to a 3rd party who sent another software update which they installed last week. So far everything works fine.

Do you mind telling me what the SW version number is?

I'm still waiting on the replacement radio to arrive, but if there's a new update that isn't through the regular channels, I'd like to get ahold of it.

Oh, radio rebooted 4x before I was out of my neighbourhood this morning. I think the biggest issue may be the radio doesn't have enough operating RAM. Radio was flipping out everywhere on the trail I ran this weekend. Seemed the worse when I have the off-road app running.

I have had my 2019 JL Rubicon in at the Jeep dealer here in Huntsville, AL for Uconnect issues and of course no issues were found when I had it there. My radio, of course, does not need an update according to the Uconnect sw site. Today, during about a 5 mile drive home, Uconnect started and stopped, gave me the black screen, only to do this about 15 times during my drive home. The only music that would play was the regular FM radio yet would only play for about 10 seconds before UConnect would reboot and go black again. I'm really getting so very tired of this intermittent Uconnect issue.

Still rebooting randomly, and this is getting stupidly ridiculous. Anyway I can get in a beta track?

I looked on the invoice from Jeep, and it doesn’t give the SW version number.

Thanks - your radio should tell you the SW version it is running. You may need to go into dealer mode to see it.

Well, the radio was replaced on the 22nd of October, and since then has not rebooted or hung. Knock on wood. However, the guardianXM services no longer work. Got off the phone with them about 40 minutes ago and they had me do a “PDR” which means “wipe all data from the radio”, neglecting to say the reset wasn’t just the Sirius data, but all data. Radio reset to default, all my navigation points deleted, radio stations, etc.

now they want to wait 45 minutes before testing again. It took me almost 20 minutes to convince the rep that it wasn’t an issue with the phone App! But that it had stopped working when the radio was replaced.

I was running the previous 8.4N (non-car play) Uconnect in my Cherokee and it never had the bugs and gaffs this one has shown in the approximately three weeks I've owned my JLU. Issues observed:

  1. Going into reverse I get a blue screen after backup camera comes on. Screen and Uconnect become unresponsive. You have to shutdown and reboot by turning Jeep off and opening/closing door and restarting. It has only occurred three times, but nothing like that occurred with previous 8.4 systems I've used/owned.
  2. Audio drop out/skipping when using SXM radio. Acts like the radio has lost signal briefly but occurs in areas the Cherokee never had issues and isn't reproducible in the same area later. Occurs if the top is open, or closed.
  3. Text messaging alerts have stopped popping up over the last couple of days, again, intermittent. Plugging the phone into Carplay "fixes" issue by transferring functions over to carplay. iPhone running iOS 13 beta
  4. Text messaging alerts don't pop when in Carplay mode - unplugging and replugging in cable fixes issue. Cables have been changed, the same issue. iPhone running iOS 13 beta, unknown version of Uconnect firmware. I can't seem to find the version information in this model.
  5. Uconnect system has rebooted twice while driving along. Screen powers off, and "Jeep" logo appears, bringing the system back online. It may not be a reboot, it may be a kernel panic as route information did not need to be reprogrammed.
  6. Route information alerts for upcoming turnoffs, etc does not lower volume when on a phone call. You can't hear phone calls over the uconnect system.
  7. Favourites for SXM send an alert, but the alert disappears very quickly, and no favourites are showing when you tap browse button. Also intermittent stops working, then starts working again. Occurs even during the same drive (IE not rebooting the system by turning car off/opening doors.)
I feel there are a few other issues, but I can't recall them right now. @JeepCares
Purchased my 2018 on June 1, 2018. About 2 weeks in I started having the same issues. Fast forward 17 months, still ongoing. Vehicle was at dealership yesterday, I get my invoice that contains a note:
"Checked for uconnect radio updated and found radio update as per TSB 08-002-19."
Unfortunately, apparently my service department didn't have any USB drives in house, so my update was not installed. ‍♂

So far, it’s been about a month and the update the dealer did has worked.
