For those that have purchased in the last few months - what interest rate were you able to achieve? I’m guessing the days of 0% are over. Anyone seeing much better than 4%?

I couldn't get qualified for USAA because my father, the veteran, is dead. I got 3.49% from Penfed locked in for 90 days. My damn vehicle better get here soon!

Navy Federal has great rates as well. They also let you become a member through family just like USAA. They were strictly Navy but opened up to all military and family members I believe a year ago.

Chrysler Capital quoted me 4.58% on a 2019 RAM with an 800+ credit score. I was only financing to get the $1500 rebate so I accepted and paid it off when the first letter arrived. Paid approximately $25 in interest.

I received 2.65% for 48 months, but it's from University Federal Credit Union in Austin, Texas. Best rate I could find.

I used a credit union and got around 2.5% 72 months. A year earlier had 2.1% 60 months. Credit score is a big factor.

Jeep dealer said they couldn't match with their financing sources. Easiest to get pre approval for sticker price and monthly payment amount, then work your way down from there. Get a bill of sale from the dealer and have them Fax it to the bank.
Go pick up check and get insurance binder while at the bank. Hand the dealer a check and off you go.

Only dickering is with bottom line $$ number, and no way for the salesmen to try and jockey numbers and waste your time. It takes monthly amounts, loan term, and percentage rates etc off the table and all you gotta do is get them to give you a better price plus tax number that is below your pre approval amount.

USAA is at 3.09% with auto pay and using a dealer with their car buying service. I made my deal and then went to the car buying on Usaa just so the dealer would pop up and then I get the .5 % lower. So I’m at 3.09 for 60 mo with a 800 score for me and my wife.

Makes me reminisce about the 1980s when savings rates were around 16%. Of course mortgage and car rates were around 18% or more. Ah, the good old days.

Dealer financed @ 5.9% back in mid October in order to take advantage of pricing. Refinanced one week later with Langley FCU for 3.24%.

.. if your father is a veteran, you definitely should qualify for USAA. USAA’s whole deal is based on vets and direct family. Should give them another call. Way to many benefits they offer that’s better than other companies.
