What if YOU were the one that cut down the tree, and it accidentally fell on your Jeep? Insurance would still apply same as if someone else cut the tree down. 🤷‍♂️
I'm not calling insurance if I was that dumb.

Threads like this make me despise insurance companies more than I already do.

And as far as you're only legally required to have liability well tell that to the bank...

Biggest rip off there is. I tell you it's a great thing they got going get it made mandatory by law and then screw you every way they can.

Normally if I screw something up on my own vehicle I just eat the cost and go have it fixed if it really bothers me that much. Think of insurance as catastrophic coverage not oops day-to-day coverage.

Fun ones!
Precisely why I use an insurance broker. I change insurance providers every 1-2 years. Earlier this year had an almost $40k claim for new roof and gutters due to a hail storm. They just doubled my premiums but I didn’t care as my broker was in the process of shopping it anyways.

OP’s situation would likely fall under homeowners which generally has higher deductibles anyways. I’d either find a used top if I really wanted a hard top or drive with the superior soft top 😁

In Texas you cannot be liable to yourself. But it could be covered as an at fault accident subject you your deductible.
