installing a power outlet in dash

My 2023 came with a cigarette lighter in the dash and I want to replace it with a power outlet. Does anyone have a video of how to do it?

If you are referring to what is considered a standard household outlet, you will need to install an inverter.

Benny @allmopar can probably help for the OEM part with flap. Not sure if that is actually how you tag someone but hopefully it will work

Same thing. Cigarette lighter and power outlet are the same. Just pull out the lighter part and insert what you want to power instead. All the smoker's package adds is the the actual lighter, similar to what is shown at bottom of pic below.

Yeah @gary4xe not sure how long you've been driving but we've been using the things that I posted in regular cigarette lighter slots for a long, long time. You don't need to replace the receptacle, only the thing that plugs into it.

I don't know how compatible your existing parts are with the above part, but be warned extracting the 12 V outlet part is difficult even with a specialized tool (Dorman 57450 Lighter Socket Removal Tool).

If you're going to have something plugged into it, why worry about a cover that does no good at that point anyhow? Hey, it's you money so do what you want but just plug the device into the existing port and call it done is my take.

People still use those lighters? I legitimately had no idea. I think most cars- maybe all cars except apparently the JL with a special package -don't even have them anymore.
