If I went back 20 years ago and tried to tell people that in 2024 you couldn't buy CDs at Walmart or Best Buy anymore, but they had plenty of vinyl records, nobody would believe me!

I'd love to try the USB CD player, but its a bit rich. They make bluetooth CD players, I might try one of those. And for anyone saying we can rip our CDs into audio files and put them on the phone or a drive, you're missing the point. First, I don't have a CD/DVD drive in any of my current computers, and haven't for years. Second, that's a lot of work. And third, there is something very simplifying about putting an single album in the player at a time.
Seems like 20 years ago was about the time I starting carrying a 32mb USB thumb drive when I went to FAA HQ in DC. But I still carried tons of paper copies of my presentations. It was a lot of years before I let go of carrying paper presentations.

In grad school (later 90's) I presented my thesis using a floppy disc and a projector, but also had an overhead projector with transparencies as a back up.

I know it’s totally anachronistic, against the trees, etc., but I really miss paper presentations. Haven’t found any app/gadget yet that lets me take notes as easily as good old pen and paper!

and on the music front, I think the pre-loaded USB idea would be great!

Also, not really relevant here but I thought some of you might appreciate this: one of my favorite talk show radio hosts from back home always says that music quality peaked in the second half of last century… I agree quite a bit (with select exceptions).
