Far too much time is being spent on this.
The purpose or intent of a forum is to have discussion and share ideas, thoughts or opinions. That's what a forum is. Whether it's relevant to you or not is your opinion. The truth is, many people attach things to their Jeeps, that are simply ornaments. Like I said it's just my opinion.

Rock crawling is a very niche segment of jeep ownership. In my opinion diff covers have become more of a visual statement like a sticker rather than serving an an actual mechanical purpose that was my point.
Ok, so you're one of those that doesn't rock crawl. Even after owning Jeeps for 47 friggin years? Sorry, but that's (IMHO) just sad.

The OP (@Wabujitsu) was asking from a perspective of someone that actually uses his Jeep for what it was designed for. Not from the perspective of a Mall Crawler.

Discussions are two way communication.

Your stance and tone come off more like a lecture. You're talking but not listening. That's not a discussion.

You might do well to look at the locations of the folks who are responding. Rock crawling isn't so "niche" in the Rockies. But, fortunately it's no crime to be both ignorant and opinionated about things you know little about at the same time.

You won't have need of anything other than stock diff covers to "Jeep" to the grocery store and mall, or even the beach.
