To answer several at once:

I have the 7” stereo so don’t have GPS.
This was a custom order. I have read dealers install this.
pictures attached. Found straight forward of the door plug behind the panel.

Guess we’ll find out the impact tomorrow. My JLU doesn’t have GPS so shouldn’t impact anything.

Wow, that is some sneaky sh!t! ?
Aren’t the dealers supposed to remove those from the vehicle upon delivery??
How is it even legal to have one of those things in the car without the owner’s knowledge? ?

My understanding is the dealer is the one who installs it as part of the vehicle prep. I have nothing to back that up just what I’ve read. I did have one sleazy dealer talking down the dealer I purchased from telling me my dealer installs a tracking device.

I got a text yesterday welcoming me to LoJack. Didn’t realize I had it. Emailed the salesman, he said it was put on by mistake but I wasn’t charged for it. Said I could keep it or bring it in & they would remove it. Think I’m gonna get it removed. Just picked up my custom order last Friday. I have 7” U-Connect so no GPS. Might be tied into the Sirius Guardian system?? Not real sure ??‍♂

Jeeps pretty upfront about Uconnect ability to connect and track remotely. They can even update the vehicles software. I like it for its LoJack like ability. None of that matters really bc your phone is always tracking you. I used to work for a company that bought granular location data down to the individual device level. While we couldn’t tell it was John Smith by name, we could see person 12345678 location data down to the minute and 10 sq meter location for the last year. We knew when someone got off a train and walked into the same coffee shop everyday and then crossed the street and into his office. This data is available for anyone over the age of 18. 250 million ish people since almost everyone carries a phone.. for those folks who turn off their phone or try to trick the trackers- bahahahaha. Nice try but you’re still being tracked and AI software can fill in the blanks in seconds. And if you have a bank account, a credit card, an Amazon account, an account on any major social media like Facebook, watch tv thru cable or satellite tv and have typed anything into google search bar - there are roughly 5000 attributes of data tracked and assigned to everyone over the age of 18. Even though these data bases are separate they can easily be connected to create a very granular profile of everyone. Every site you’ve ever visited can be attached to this profile. 99.999999 % of people don’t have the time or resources to erase themselves. while your privacy is protected much of the time by laws and such anyone with 10 million dollars and cloud storage can stitch it together. 10 million bucks is chump change In the face of billions of dollars. Your Jeep‘s location is the least of your concerns.

Too bad you can't install the SIM card in an old phone, dial up a pay sex line and let it run 24 hours a day.

Otherwise, I would suggest smashing that son-of-a-bitch into 1000 pieces, smear it with dog feces, put a note on top of it reading "Track THIS!", put it in a box with a 1 cent stamp on it, address it to the dealership with the return address the dealers address as well and drop it in a mail drop.

But hey, that's just me. ?

I have the choice to turn my phone off or use a VPN to fake my location. This is not my choice. It is my choice to remove it.
I will say I looked briefly when I brought it home but didn’t bother me knowing it was there. But when I saw that LED blinking Incouldnt just leave it in there LOL. It became principal.

This quote from the device manual that @Jeepmarkjl posted is interesting,
"Relay Driver
A 500mA sink capable output pin is provided. This pin is meant to drive a relay coil intended to interrupt the starter solenoid relay for the ignition circuit to a car."
So it can remotely disable your Jeep if instructed to do so...if you stop making payments for example.

Dealers put these in cars for repossession or car tracking add-on fees to pad their profits. They usually don’t care enough to remove them from every customer who declines the tracking packages or doesn’t finance with their dealer banks.

I’d put it somewhere interesting like on a truck stop gas pump.
