Hello out there,
I am installing a MC 2.5” game changer lift on my 2018 JL Rubicon.
I am nearly ready to start setting caster and pinion angles. I am doing the work out on my carport which is very out of level an uneven. I also just bought the Klein digital angle finder.
My question is, does the jeep need to be perfectly level to find the proper angles?
Any help and tips will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

And on a bubble/laser level alignment rack with turn plates.

As for the pinion angles, you do not want more than two degrees difference between the pinion angle and the drive shaft.

You want a relatively even surface. It can be at an angle, you just need to sit the Klein on the ground, zero it, then take your measurements at the appropriate locations to get the relative angle to the ground plane for the caster. The pinion angle is relative to itself so zero it to the yoke and then measure the shaft.

Take it to a shop. Once on the rack set your angle finder on the knuckle or ball joints. Take a picture of your measurement. Then you know where you start and can adjust from there.

I put pieces of wood under my wheels to level out my jeep when I did this. I just jacked up each wheel at the axle and slid plywood or 2x lumber as needed. I used a level on my sliders and bumpers. It worked well.
