In doing research on the purchase of my new 4xe (is it 4xe, or 4Xe, or 4xE, or ?) I ran across some forum and internet comments which indicated that the perception was that the 4xe was typically driven by folks who only wanted the image of a Jeep Wrangler owner, along with being friendly to the planet, while not actually ever going off-road.
For myself, I am definitely not that kind of owner.
When I go down to Arizona every winter for vacation, I go out in the desert with my folks and their Jeep club and tackle some fairly technical trails. The first year I borrowed one of their Wranglers; a 1989 lifted TJ...
The next year and for another couple years, I brought my new 2019 4Runner with mild lift and 33" tires. The Jeep club people were not amused that I could go everywhere that they went, lol...
When I show up this winter in my new Wrangler Unlimited on 35s, I'm sure I will get a warmer reception, lol.
I will use my 4xe the same as I used my 4Runner; to go explore the Idaho mountains and Arizona deserts without purposely doing extreme trails or rock-crawling. I actually go off-road in the mountains and deserts and need a vehicle with plenty of clearance and traction.
Just curious as to how many other 4xe owners actually go wheeling and if the stigma of them being owned by mall crawlers and gravel road dwellers is deserved or not.
