With any vehicle we buy used and find a vehicle with most of the options we want, we always have a few must haves. Color for us is never a primary must have choice but its gotta be a color we can stand to look at every day.

If we were to buy the Wrangler again I would get a different transfer case option. We miss the part time 4WD we had with our old Grand Cherokee. Our winter road conditions would be better to navigate with the part time system.

We choose to buy used and let someone else pay the first few years of depreciation. I have no problem buying outside of factory warranty as well. I can do most of my own work and the few times I took it to a shop I was perfectly fine to let someone else scrape up their knuckles instead of mine.

The only option I'd really miss from the XR package would be the gears, but that's because we run 39s. If you only want 35s, KO2s are underwhelming and so is the "lift" of the xr package. 4.10s are great for 35s. I'd get the color you want and throw on a quality lift and 35s of your choice. On the opposite line of thinking, if you are going to big tires, a regear costs almost as much as a vinyl wrap locally so for 37s I'd go XR and then wrap it in any color you choose.

Option 2, and then throw on some Dana 60s and 40s!

If you're not in a hurry for it why settle, keep an eye out for the one you want. I've been looking for a tan Tacoma trdor for a few months now without having to travel half way across the country. Eventually one will pop up.

I have an old saying. When you walk out to the parking lot to turn your car on, it should return the favor.
If the color doesn't work for you, you'll either have to get used to it, or regret it. I live in Arizona on a dirt road, so in my case, there's only one color - white. I waited until I found the set up I wanted - One Touch Sky Top (requirement #1), XR package and on from there.

Option 1 - 2022 XR, 25K miles, third favorite color

Option 2 - 2023 non-XR, 17k miles, favorite color

Option 3 - Wait for more options

Cost and vehicle condition being comparable, what option would you choose?
You are literally the ONLY person on the face of the planet who can answer this question for you.

Hi all, I have had 3 Wranglers. A 12 sport, a 17 Willys and an 18 Sahara. Dozer, black, and now Ocean Blue. I liked the dozer love the blue. When I got the jeep used the door hinges was blistering. My JK's didn't have this issue. I found a dealer willing to honor the warranty replaced the doors hood and painted it. Love the blue even more. I needed color. not happy with black. won't go back, lol.

I actually got my third (at best) choice of color. It completely ruined my plans for what I wanted to do with the look of the Jeep.

Fast forward and I’m so stoked that vehicle is mine and love driving it. It looks very different from what I wanted but still incredible.

I don’t regret it. It forced me to be flexible which was fun

I'd go with option 2 or option 3. A full paint job on a Jeep it seems can be incredibly expensive and maybe cost more than putting the XR package yourself. If there are really no problems with the Jeep and you have a good feeling go for option 2.

Depending on the color you want maybe go option 3...it all depends on the color.

Wish Gobi, Nacho, or pumpkin orange comeback this year...

And I will never ever EVER buy a white car ever again. Gross.
White has its pros and cons like any color. The nice thing about Jeeps is you can throw tons of vinyl at them and make them look good. My wife’s 18 JLU was white and she had pink accents all over it. She loved it. My JTOD is white and I threw black and blue accents all over it. I love it. Her new 24 Willys is Earl Grey, she was dead set on color. Pink accents just doesn’t go with Earl, so everything is black and she’s good with that too.

and finally Earl Gray with black

I’ve been happy with all three choices so far. The bolder the color, the harder it is to accessorize.

What about getting a wrap for option 1? You could change colors every few years and still have all of the options you want.
