Something tells me that one is a pre-production unit, many of which were handed out to reps. Where did you see it?
Koons Tysons....

It was a mistake as per the dealer. They are awaiting the correct freedom top panels.

This is the first JLU delivered to the dealer where I have a factory order and was dropped off on Wednesday. See anything odd?

The exact same thing happened when the JK first started hitting lots, too. Some things never change.

We saw that today and I had this thread in mind when I took a picture of it!

That’s the Landau Roof option, very popular in the 80’s.

Had a nice little chat on another forum with the factory worker who is a member there. He blames the kids of course lol. But apparently FCA has hired lots to build the JL, so hopefully they learn quickly and these issues get resolved.

Hey, at least we're not buying a modern Merc :) I've heard reports that they fit smaller brake pads than the rotor - so you have to buy new rotors when you change your pads.

Then there was last time the Wrangler was redesigned...

As much as I'm weary about first year model flaws, I'm really impressed with the JL. I took one for a test drive last week (unfortunately, it was the wrong color) and it really feels well-built, confident, and stout. Even the new JKs don't quite feel that way and Jeep has them pretty much perfected now. But yeah, I have no doubt there's going to be some interesting bugs and WTF moments that'll crop up over the next couple years.

As for the JK's death wobble, I never quite blamed that directly on the vehicle. Granted, it was stupid for Jeep to use non-shouldered bolts on the suspension, but a lot of people having death wobble that early on were folks who installed one of the many shitty lift kits that were on the market which were poorly engineered and rushed to stores. These were the kits that had trackbar relocation hardware that snapped the mounting bracket right off the axle. Procomp was probably one of the biggest offenders of said kits. And yeah, there were some who had death wobble on their Jeep stock, but many were lifted right out of the gate and nobody was making a good lift kit for the JK in '07.

Materials used by Jeep are significantly improved.

Time will tell on actiual quality of the new Wrangler.

My 08 only had two small quality issues. The trailer wiring harness had to be replaced and the stereo reflashed. I've been running those suspect suspension bolts for 121k miles. No death wobble, no issues. Steering is tight as ever after new ball joints at 90k. Only the soft top rattles. Not bad.

So far, only 2 very tiny issues on my JL. A faint smudge on the dash panel that only someone like me would notice, and a tiny edge, like 1/2 mm of protective film on the right rear fender flare peeling up. Those are nothing. Assembly appears to be perfect. It runs, rides, drives, steers, and feels perfect. All decals are on straight.

I saw stuff on other makes and models at the Indy Auto Show that would cause a media assault on Jeep if they appeared on the JL, and those were cars prepped for show! Companies with better reputations get mulligans for that stuff, though.

If I find other issues, I'll report them. ALL companies have these issues, though, even if you don't hear about them. I promise you that this kind of vehicle, with switchable tops and removable doors and 4wd are more prone to issues because of their complexity. Thing is, nobody else makes anything like it. Leaks and wind noise will account for much of it. No other convertible is as complicated. Btw, some people will complain of wind noise when the top is down. Really.

That said, no excuse for mismatched flares or top panels that's just dumb.

:cwl: That is definitely just the wrong fender. Honestly I didn't even notice it until I read the comments. I suckkk:facepalm:

This is what I think of when they say "Don't buy a first year vehicle." Not major mechanical failure, but quality control. I remember when the 3rd gen Honda Fit came out in '15, quality control was a total sh*t show. I don't think any vehicle in recent history had such poor QC at release as the 3rd gen Fit. Hope the JL fares better.

Give Toledo another 6 months to get themselves together, then order a JL (I kid, I kid. Kinda.)
